Miss Ream is n student nurse at the University of uregon medical school. Mrs. Velma Pennish has re turned to Portland after visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C Culler, 624 Roosevelt, and her brother, Martin Culler, 222 Urania lane. The Methodist WSCS will meet Wednesday, July 6, at 2 p.m. In tne church Fireside room. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fulton ol Portland and Mr. and Mrs. George Green of Battle Ground, Wash visited relatives over the weekend and attended the Water Pageant. Fulton is the son of Mrs. John DcBoer and brother of George Fulton, and Green is Mrs. De- Boer's brother. Mrs. Fred Fulton. the former Mary A.ir, Crawford, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Crawford. Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Berry, for mer Bend residents now living in Portland, were local visitors over the holiday. Longballa, former Bend residents. Fred Hall, former Bend residen' who now has a photo studio in Ashland, visited here over the hol idays with his daughter, and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Lin- gerfelt and family. Firemen Have Quiet Weekend The Bend Fire Department had a quiet weekend, in spile of thv holiday, and for the first time in several years, there were no calls Iwcause of fireworks. The car, driven by Frank De- laney Jr. ol Seattle, hit the high way shoulder, bounced over, and rolled several times on the bank. She is not in critical condition. Other passengers in the car were: Mrs. Mary Ann Delaney, 21; Frank Delaney III; Billy Cheu vant, U; Sherril Ann Chcuvant 3, and Donny Cheuvant, 4. The car was a total wreck. The ac cident occurred when the Elliots were driving down a steep wind ing road in their truck. The brakes gave away and Elliott was unable to make a sharp curve. The truck went over n grade, throwing Mrs. Elliott and her daughter to their death. Elliott lived a few hours, and died on arrival at a hospital in Grand Junction.
