The high roads are beginning
to open. Mrs. Amelia Gillam, who
has boats on Three Creeks lake,

The latest road report from the
forest service says that North
Century drive is open only to the
end of the pavement by Bachelor
Butte. South Cfntury is open to a
point 2'i miles north of Elk lake
That means that Sparks, Todd
and Devils lake are inaccessible
by road. Anyone for a walk?
Lost lake road is still closed and
the roads to Waldo and Big lake
are still snowed in. 1

the roster of new instructors in
Crook county, according to Cecil
Sly, county school superintendent
On the high school faculty. Marlie
Jean Gattuccio of Portland wil
teach junior and sophomore Eng
'ish and Adele Ray Lewis, Bois-
teacher, will come to Prineville to
teach speech, journalism and Eng
lish. In the junior high school, a now
instructor will be Norma Richards,
Athena. She will teach mathema
tics. Ceeile Yazzolino has been
named to the staff at the Powell
Butte grade school.
Sly stated that several vacancies
!:till exist in tic teacher lis! for
the county. A special education
teacher has not yet been located.

short by two instructors. An assis
tant athletic coach is also needed,
and an instructor in music and
English at the high school.
Summer school courses will oc
cupy the weekdays for Sly who is
now enrolled ut Oregon State col
lege. He will be in his office to
transact business on weekends,
and during the week the office will
be staffed by the secretarial force.

farm near here. The post was cot
from a catalpa tree and believed
well -seasoned. Some lime later the
post began to sprout leaves and

Eight young people from the
Bend First Christian church are
attending the annual conference

About 150 young people have
been in attendance throughout the
week. In the Bend group are Don

Gregg and Rachel Goodrich.
A conference for junior high
youth will be held al Camp Adams
July 31-Aug. 6. A camp for boys
will be held at Crescent Lake that
same week.
