Here are' two recipes you'll like. One is for an appetizer pie and one is for pickled veal roast. Pickle EkK Appetizer Ile (Makes 1 7-Inch pie) Four hard - cooked eggs, finely chopped, cup finely chopped dill pickles, 1 -tablespoon finely chopped onion, 1 teaspoon pre pared mustard, 2 tablespoons vine' gar, 1-3 cup mayonnaise, salt and pepper to taste, lA pound liver wurst, mashed, 1 7-inch crosswise slice round pumpernickel bread, M:-ineh thick. Combine pickle, eggs, onion. Trim Artist of High Trapeze Cooks When She Finds Time A favorite recipe of LaNorm.i, the dainty Danish trapeze artist, who will appear with the Ward Bell Circus in Bend on Monday and Tuesday, June 6 and 7, is a Danish goulash, which she learned to make by watching her mother prepare the delectable dish, in her native Denmark. The menu was never published or written so far as LaNorma, in private life. Mrs. Andre Fox, re calls. Her recipe is served attractively in the center of a large meat plat ter which has been outlined with peaks of creamed potatoes. Add 4 bayleaves, 1 scant tea spoon allspice, x.b teaspoon cay enne pepper, salt and pepper tu taste. Let simmer. 1 round veal steak cubed 1 pound 'beef cubed 4 carrots diced 5 or 6 large mushrooms diced Add just enough water for cook ing until carrots and beef are ten der. Add more water if necessary but this stew should be kept thick. Last, mix enough of the juice with two tablespoons flour for thicken' ing. Place in the mixture with kit chen bouquet for color. Greater Economy In Trucking Seen PHILADELPHIA (UP) Es tablishment by the Federal Com munications Commission of radio frequencies for use by t rucking firms is seen by the Radio Corp. of America as a practical means to greater economy in trucking oper ations. According to C. M. Lewis, spokesman for the engineering products division of RCA, the con tinuous control of rolling stock which the FCC action makes possi ble will result in reduced operat ing cost. The FCC regulation establishes 12 low-band, 40-megacycle fre quencies and eight highland 450 megacyete frequencies for use by motor carriers. Fire Destroys Chicken Houses Special to The Bulletin REDMOND Fire of undeter mined origin destroyed two large chicken houses, a quantity of farm machinery and several tons of hay at the Charles L. Simpson ranch, three miles north and half a mile east of Redmond, Tuesday after noon.' Two fire trucks from the Red mond Fire Department answered the alarm at about 4:15 p.m., and prevented the fire from spreading over a larger area. The house, south of the burning buildings, was not damaged. Conbine liverwurst and remaining mayonnaise, blend thor ouglily. Spread egg mixture on bread. Decorate with liverwurst mix ture forced 'through pastry tube. Pickled Veal Roast (Makes 8 serving) One 3V4 pound veal roast, boned and rolled, 1-3 cup chopped onions, 1-3 cup chopped sweet fresh cu cumber pickles, salt and pepper, 1 cup sweet cucumber pickle liquid. Unroll veal and spread with onions and pickles. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Roll and tie se curely. Pour pickle liquid over veal and chill overnight. Place veal on rack in shallow pan. Roast, uncovered, in slow oven (300 degrees F.) 3 to 36 hours, or until meat thermometer regis ters 170 degrees and meat is tender Baste occasionally with pickle li quid. Sim mer to blend flavois. (Good with frankfurters, too.) stirring constantly, until sauce is thickened and smooth. Remove from heat and add cooked spaf hetti and H cup of the grated cheese. Place half of Hie spaghetti mixture in the bottom of a but tered 9" square -baking dish (2 quart capacity), top with half of the meat and half of . the sliced tomatoes. Repeat layers, and sprinkle the top with the remaining hi cup grated cheese. Bake in a 350 degree preheated own for 20 25 minutes. Cuo!
