London Dock I Strike Called s I-ONDON (UP) - Docker bulked out In five British pons Monday in a strike that partially paralyzed the nation's vital export business and could shape the out come of Thursday's generuJ elec-j The Laboriles immediately ac cused Prime Minister Sir Anthony tden's government ol being un able to cope with the crisis. How ever, it still was not certain the strikes would hurt the Conserva tives more than the Laborites Y;hose largest union was involved. Efforts by the government and top-ranking trade union leaders to avert the strike failed, and Rome 17,000 dockers walked out in I-oh-don, Manchester, Liverpool, Bir kenhead and Hull, Government officials were to con fer again with union leaders to day. Also, officials of the two dock ers unions involved were to hold Separate meetings to consider thi' walkout. Oukley for reduction of assessed valuation of his property at 410 Congress avenue. Dr. Oakley's application is the only one the board has received Board members are County Judge Allen, Jack Dudrey of Bend, and George Wakefield M Redmond. A decision will be made within the next two days. he handled the strikes too softly. But by being too tough, he could scare floating trade union votes into the Labor camp. Today's walkout resulted from a jurisdictional conflict between the striking National Amalgamated Stevedores and Dockers Union and General Workers Union. (NASD) and the larger Transport iind General Workers Union (TGWU). Only 17,000 of the 50,000 dockers at Ihe five ports were affected by I he strike. He and Mrs. Farris invited the organiza tion to hold its 19jC convention in Bend May 17, IS and 19. ! Traditionally, tlie convention is held each year in tiie president's home town. Karris succeeds AI Anderson of the Eugene Laundry in the head office. Tommy Georges of the Oregon Laundry, Portland, is the new vice-president.
