Mid-May Pack Deepest In Years Newberry crater, location of East and Paulina lakes is now under its deepest mid-May snow pack In many years and there -s a possibility that the two lakes may still be under ice and snow when the season opens there on Saturday, May 28. This past weekend 14 inches of mow fell in the crater area, add ing to the imposing pack which was already piled into drifts some 15 feet deep in places. Slate game officials reported here today that both East and Paulina lakes are under heavy coats of ice, with no signs of a breakup. Roads i.ito campsite are still choked by snow, and most camp areas are snow blocked. The Newberry crater lake route, now surfaced its entire distance east from U.S. 97 to East lake, has been cleared of snow, assur ing anglers access to the caldera on May 28 providing the lakes arc free of ice. Deep snow flanks to the road into the crater area, and mo torists are advised not to attempt to drive into the high country. Betrothal News Of Interest Here Mr. and Mrs. William R. Wedding King Molds Aspio Layers: Two envelopes un favored gelatin, 1 cup cold toma to juice, 2'ii cups hot tomato juice, ' teaspoon salt, V4- teaspoon pepper, 2 tablespoons lemon juice. Sprinkle gelatin on cold tomato juice to soften. Add hot tomato juice and stir until gelatin is dis solved. Stir in salt, pepper and lemon juice. Divide mixture in half; pour into 2 3-cup ring molds. Chill until almost firm. Cliicken.
