Musical Program Held at Sisters - Special to Tin Bulletin SISTEKS "This is Music?" wus presented Monday afternoon in the Sisters Gymnuslum by elementary students from Alfalfu, Brothers, CloVerdale, Harper, LaPine. Sis ters, Terrebonne, Lower Bridge, Young, and Tumalo. ;The Sisters Drill Team under Uie direction of Mrs. Thelma Lundy and Mrs. Lois Erickson opened the' program by leading Ihe con gregation of students in the flag salute and the national anthem. Lower Bridge school presented the next number, "Welcome;" fol lowed by two numbers by the county primary rhythm band. Tumalo and LaPine third and fourth graders danced the Virginia Reel. The combined lower grades chorus sang "Star I Love Besl, "Over In Ihe Meadow" and "I'se Got Shoes." A choral reading was presented by the Alfalfa upper grades under the directorship of Mr. Ford For ster entitled, "The Oregon Trull." Cloverdale and Brothers were next oh the program with the Clover dale youngstere presenting a Dutch dance followed by a Rhythm Band Special by students from Brothers. !- Terrebonne third and fourth grades wore next with a singing game, "Four in a Boal." The Har per school entertained with a Ton , ellc duet. Their numbers were "Skater's Waltz" and "Old Black Joe." The combined upper grades school chorus sung "Chiapone- cm." "Ilea s Castle. "Ixinesome Valley" and 'Cindy." Young unper grade students danced a square dance number, followed by a square dance by slu dents from' UiPine high school. All schools took part in the mu sical number enlilled "The Honor able Three Blind Mice " .The festival ended with the en tire group of more than CIH) stu dents singing "Gml Bless Amer ica.!' The entire nroduetion was di rected by Mrs. Edith Jones, music director for Deschutes county. Mr. Jenny Cai-yl was the chorus accompanist. Iwo writers who have captured many of the top writing awards ot the last decade, Monday received Pulitzer prizes. Faulkner won the prize lor "A Fuhlc," the novel ot trench life in World War 1 which took him nine years to write. Williams won his second Pulitzer prize lor the play "Cat On A Hot 1'iu Roof, a drama about u twist ed Mississippi plantation family. The HI.Vi Pulitzer prizes were announced Monday by President Grayson Kirk of Columbia Univer sity. They were awarded by the university's trustees on Ihe recom mendation of the advisory board on Puliter prizes.
