Ft. 6 MUTES, 0RLGON HtffHI j LLLl-lla Church to Show! Fim on Wesley The motion picture "John Wes ley," will be shown at the First Methodist church on Sunday, April 21 at 7:30 p.m., according to the pastor, Rev. Dean C. Poindexter. The feature-length film is In col or and was produced by the Radio and film Commission of the Me thodist church in cooperation with J. Arthur Rank. It brings to the screen for the lirst time the dynamic and color- .ul lain century evangelist ana cuueator. John Wesley's miraculous rescue irom a burning house at the age jf five, at the beginning of tne idm, forecasts the dramatic ana eventful life which unfolds in this itory of a man of slight stature out of impelling influence upon nis contemporaries and upon his tory. The English clergyman thought nis venture in America as a mis sionary to the Indians in the Geor gia colony was a failure, but it was the kind of failure which ojiened the door to the discovery of a religious certainty he had oeen seeking. Furthermore, this discovery, in which John Wesley felt his "heart strangely warmed, led mm to face mobs unafraid, and to ride 250,000 miles on horseback, chang ing the masses of English people from a low state of moral degra dation to sturdy and happy up rightness. His "enthusiasm" was frowned upon by the lethargic leaders of the Church of England of that day, but it was this new-found enthus iasm which enabled him to influ ence so many phases of the life of English-speaking peoples. His appeal to the common man, his establishment of schools, clin ics, lay preaching and societies finally his sending of supervisors for the movement in the new world after the American Revolution all these make the film one which will be long remembered. The Rev. Mr. Poindexter ex plained that while the film is be ing released only to Methodist churches the public is invited to sec the picture at the First Meth- HAS LEAD Leonard Sachs who plays the title role in the film "John Wesley," to be shown at the Methodist church tomorrow night.
