Sime straw hats are dot ted wilh tiny fealher wisns and uarkling stones. Sheer veiling and lane add clelirnle nallerning to crowns or brims. Matte iersey chiffon and organdie are shirred pleated or dmped for ai-eenl. Even modestly - priced bonnets frefiuentlv achieve an amazing wealth of detail with a handmade look. Onlden honey tones from creamv white to deep "burnt" straw shades harmonize with ev ery costume color. Since the brims generally narrower, the liat band has been widened. High lustre grosgrain bands and brim binding are used with strik ing effect. The trim is often in the snme color family as the hat, but in a lighter shade. In choosing a band, a man has a real opportu nity to assert his personality. He can be conservative or as colorful as he likes. Casual and sports styles are be coming increasingly popular. These hats are light .in weight and many are soft and supple enough to let a man shape his hats to suit his moods. Moving up in favor fast are Tyroleans and seml-Tyro-lcuns, which are shown in suedes, velours and pebbles. Color Important In New Shirts For Spring '55 Color plays the biggest part hi the men's shirt story for spring. Soft pastels are solildy entrenched. The popularity of colored dress shirts to brighten the dark ward robe grows apace, and for spring there is an ever-widening spec trum. The success of pink and helio will continue into the warmer months. Cognac, peach, lime, mint STYLE FAVORITE The pleat ed skirt here is topped with a snug torso jacket with shorter sleeves that reveal cuffs of the tie-silk blouse. : ; 1 ; J COSTUME LOOK Here a tweed cardigan coat is teamed with a cotton shirtdress that I matches the coat's lining.
