1 Pays To Be A Friend As Well As A Parent
" Everything we do now is for our children's future. Time spent in reading to
your children, reasoning with them and helping them with their difficult problems
will teach them to look upon you as a friend and companion . . . pot merely a
father or mother . . . stern giown-ups from whom they receive food, clothing and
shelter, in return for which ihey must obey your orders. Sympathize wi!h them,
listen to their trials and troubles (real or fancied.) Not until years from now will
today's children realize the fdi benefit of the care and attention they receive.
A long range point of view must be taken too of incalculating the habit of
regular Church attendance; :c that they may understand the true meaning of re
ligion and will early learn that material comforts are not enough without the spirit
ual uplift of the Church.
