The Civil Air Patrol will hold
its regular meeting Thursday eve
ning at the Bend airport quarters,
with cadets to report in uniform
at 7:30 for close-order drill, lead
ers of the group have announced.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ray and Mr.i
and Mrs. Lee Calder, who are
spending the winter in Arizona,
have established residence in
Wickenburg, local friends have
learned. The Rays report that Mr
and Mrs. Norman Venable, also
former Bend residents, are living
in Phoenix, where they operated a
restaurant, until selling the busi
ness recently. Both Ray and Cal
der are carpenters. The Rays were
active in the Deschutes Geology
club and local square - dance
groups.
Charles Trautner of St. Paul,;
Minn., an earl.ylay Bend resident -is
here for a reunion with his sis
ters, Mrs. T. E. J. Duffy and
Mrs. Anna Brosti'rhous. Ttiis is his
first visit to Central Oregon in 13
years.
Pine Forest grange will hold it;
March of Dimes benefit Friday
evening, at the Grange hall just
south of town. There will be a pol
itick dinner at 6: TO, followed by a
musical program, cards and
games. The public is invited to at-
day, and will meet Mrs. Homing

sail Feb. 1 for Frankfurt. Ger

Dora Henry Dies
At Bend Hospital
Dora Henry, wife of Rutledge I.
Henry, 1W3 W. Third street, died
Wednesday morning at St. Charles
Memorial hospital, where she had
been a patient 17 days. She had
been a Bend resident 36 years.
Mrs. Henry was born April 2-1,
1885, in Almey, Wyo. She belonged
to the auxiliary of Jay H. Upton
camp, United Spanish - American
War Veterans; the Bend Rebekah
lodge and Neighbors of Woodcraft
In addition to her husband, she
is survived by two sons. Vein G.,
Springfield and Clyde L.. Spokane:

Joy Riding Car
A speeding ear went on quite a
joy ride last night.

pitalized. Another couple who were
passengers were uninjured. The
pilot was released from Sacred
Heart after a check-up. and Miss
iiagglutid sustained a broken nose
and a wrenched back.
The pilot apparently had to make
an emergency landing because of
engine failure. The plane "pan
caked" in a field near Hie Albany
airport as the party were return
ing from a flight. The Hagglimds'
son, James, is a freshman at the
university and has kept the family
in Redmond informed of his sis
ter's condition. She also talked to
hor parents by telephone Sunday
evening from the hospital, Mrs.
Hagglund says.

Mr. und Mrs. Roiiert Carson of
Camp Sherman are the parents of
a baby girl born Sunday at the St.
Charles Memorial hospital in Bend.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Carson teach
in the Camp Sherman school. This
is their first child.
Mrs. A. W. Meiidetihall of the B
and B. resort at Camp Sherman
made a visit to her home at Camp
Sherman Friday, Jan. 21. Mrs.
Mendenliall has been ill and in the
hospital in Bend but is now im
proving steadily.
