While Russian propagandists shrill that both Dwight D. Eisen hower and Gov. Adlal E. iStev enson are war-mongering tools of Wall Street-magnates," Western Europeans study carefully every word uttered by the candidates. A survey shows tnat the outpour ings of Red propaganda are a souped-up repeat of the line taken in the 1948 campaign. It is a theme apparently set first by Pravda, the official organ of the Russian Communist Party, then echoed by Radio Moscow and the speeches of Soviet and satellite officials. In Western Europe, dispatches indicate a"n Intense effort to judge American campaign oratory on a subtle basis of word meanings, shadings and degree of emphasis. un tne nea siae oi me iron uir- tain, Communist venom seems about equally divided between El senhower and Stevenson. The Ko rean war, the financial angles of both political parties and the anti Communist ideaB of both candi dates get top billing in the Red press and radio. (IB Parents who think they have trouble selecting names for their children might consider the problem of C. E. How ell, professor of animal husbandry at the University of Caliiornia. Howell is the university's horse specialist and one of the foremost horse authorities in California. His duties also include naming all the new-born colts on the school's ex perimental farm. To register thoroughbred horses, they must be given acceptable names and the names, with two alternates, must be filed with the thoroughbred association. At first, Howell took on the task with a smile, but that was 32 years and 227 colts ago. Now he is run ning out of names, t He has named colts after college presidents, university faculty mem bers, national associations, flowers, California farmers; his relatives, pretty coeds and even after the sec tetaiti of his depatrment. i., . 'Despite his best efforts,'1 he is several ' names behind right now and the crop of colts is coming.
