Cub Pack No. 27
Has Christmas
Party Monday
Members of Cub Scout pack
No. 27 held their annual Christ
mas party Monday evening at
First Christian church. Each den
presented a short Christmas skit,
and the cubs gave their mothers
the Christmas gilts they had
made for them.
Awards were received by Lee
Edmondson. Billy Edmondson,
Gary Holland, Robert Ells, Jim
my Winslow, Philip Marcouller,
Ray Brogan, Benny McCarthy
and Richie Olson.
The Webefos badge was award
ed to Leroy Miller.
Certificates of appreciation and
corsages were presented to the
following den mothers: Mrs. A.
' T. Sandwick, Mrs. E. L. Nielsen,
. Mrs. G- W. Ross, Mrs. Harvey
Olson,. Mrs. Howard Kopp, Mrs.
W. E. Jossy and Mrs. Leslie Ross.
The pack' presented a gift cer-
' tlficate for a poinsetta plant to
their sponsor, First Christian
church.

wish violin selections, accompan
ied by Mrs. R. C. Caryl.
At the close of the evening,
Santa Claus. appeared to distrib;
ute Christmas gifts and candy.

tering their December , activities
around 'the Christmas theme.
Cubs of Den 1, under direction
of Den mother Mrs. EveVett
Gettman, have done potato block
printing of Christmas wrapping
paper and made surprise pack
ages of Christmas candy which
they presented to their mothers.
Cubs " under the direction of
Mrs. Elmer Brown have made
surprise candy packages for par
ents, sung carols, and helped to
tell the Christmas story. They
have also sprayed twigs of ju
niper with silver for the tops of
their gift boxes and made place
cards for Christmas dinner.
Theme for the January pack
meeting will be "Rivers of Ameri
ca,'' and skits on that subject are

Many spectators gathered in the
park, to hear the carols, and fa
vorable comments were made. .

ited St. Charles hospital and Sun
set home to sing carols. Later in

hot chocolate.''

Couple Wed Saturday
In Local Church Rites
First Presbyterian ?hurch was the scene of a lovely pre
holiday wedding Saturday, December 16, when Miss Nancy
L. Lusk became the bride of William J. Sheffold. Rev. Allan
B. Philp performed the double-rinff candlelight ceremony at

The bride, who was graduated from Bend high school with
tho class of 1948, was employed before her marriage at the
i vern Larson agency. She. is
the daughter of H. B. Lusk of
Portland, and made her home

ing her graduation.
Sheffold, also a Bend high
school graduate, is a junior at
Oregon State college, where he is
affiliated with Phi Delta Theta
fraternity.
Fc the wedding, the bride wore
a gown of white satin and lace,
with lace-trtmmed fingertip veil.
She carried white carnations cen
tered with a white orchid. -Large
Wedding Party
Miss Sue Lusk was her sister's
maid of honor. She wore a gown
of gold satin. Bridesmaids were
Mrs.- Gary Vaughn, sister of the
bridegroom; Miss Genny Arm
strong, Mrs. James Dickman and
Miss. Carolyn Blakely, all in
bronze satin. The attendants car
ried nosegays of bronze and gold
chrysanthemums and wore match
ing crowns trimmed with seed
pearls.
Darlene and Gloria Sheffold,
sisters of the bridegroom, were
flower girls, wearing gold dresses
styled like those of the brides
maids. Groomsmen were fraternity
brothers of the bridegroom at Or
egon State college. Gene Morrow
was best man, and ushers were
Yale Rolff, Wes Hogland, Dwight
Quisenberry and Vern Clark.
Mrs. Bush At Orgaa -:
Mrs. Clarence Bush was at the
organ, and Mrs. Howard M. Nich
olson sang "Because" and 'The
Lord's Prayer."
After the ceremony, a reception
was held in 'he church parlors.
Mrs. T. D. Carlson cut the wed
ding cake, and Mrs. George Brick,
Bend, and Mrs. Mel Walsh, Lake
view, aunts of the bridegroom,
poured. Miss Evelyn Jones, Port
land, also an aunt of the bride
groom, had charge of the guest
book and gilts. Mrs. vern Clark
served the punch.
; The bridegroom's mother wore
an aqua formai, with pink acces
sorial and a corsage of pink car
nations.

Redmond, Dee. 21 The third
annual Christmas party given by
the Redmond high school fac
ulty for the students will be to
morrow night, at the high school
gymnasium. ' - . .-
"Christmas in Candy Land"
has been chosen 'as the-central
theme, with candy canes, lolly-
pops and gingerbread houses to
be used as decorations, against
a background of Christmas trees,
holly and mistletoe.
; Music will be provided for
dancing, and a program is being
arranged.

DATE SET FOB PARTY
Because New Year's eve falls
on Sunday, the New Year's party
for members of the Bendonian
dancing club and their friends
v-ill be held Saturday night, Dec.
30, at the Bendonian studio, 1001
E. Penn. Dancing will start at
9 p.m., with .music by a three
piece orchestra. Noisemakers will
be distributed at intermission, it
was announced.

Sunday afternoon, Dec. 17, When
Ruth L, Mittrick, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. M. ''Mittrick of Garden
Grove. Calif., became the bride of
Jack E. Nichols, son of Mr. and
Mrs. C. Nichols, of Turlock, Calif.
. Rev. George M. Knox read the
single-ring ceremony at 2 p.m.
Before the exchange of vows he
sang "O, Promise Me," with Mrs.
Knox at the piano. s . .
The bride wore an afternoon
frock- of white frosted organdy,
with accessories in soft rose. Her
bouquet was of pink and rose
desert flowers.
