La Grande Plans
Vote on Daylight
La Grande, April 14 Hl'i--Plans
for a straw vote in La Grande
May 19 on the daylight saving
issue have hit a legal snag.
City attorney Carl Helm has
advised the city comm.ssioneis
that stale election laws prohibit
registered voters casting straw
ballots simultaneously with pri
mary election voting.
Helm said straw votes could
not be held within 50 feet of
polling places on election days.
The commissioners indicated,
howeve:-, that a straw vote on
the fast time issue might still
be held if satisfactory legal ar
rangements can tie made.
