MONDAY, APRIL 3, 1950 Johnson Denies British Cabinet Member Suspect Washington, April 3 IP)De- fense secretary Louis Johnson said today the Atlantic pact de fense ministers never discussed any proposal to withhold confi dential Information from British war secretary John G. Strachey. Arriving here from Europe, Johnson said he concurred in a statement of British defense min ister Emanuel Shinwell, on the subject. Shinwell said in London that there was "not a word of truth to-it." Johnson, Gen. Omar N. Brad ley, and Chairman Millard F. Tydings, D., Md., of the senate armed services committee, ar rived here at 7:18 a.m., EST, from the Hague, Netherlands. At the Hague they attended a meet ing of Atlantic pact defense min isters to devise strategy against aggression. Johnson was asked directly whether there was any truth to the report that confidential de fense information of the Atlantic pact partners would be withheld from Strachey, who has had left wing tendencies. "It was never discussed by the defense ministers," Johnson said. Up To British Johnson explained that he him self dealt only with Shinwell and that it was entirely up to the British whether or not Shinwell passed on information to Stra chey. In London, an official British spokesman described the report as a "lie." The spokesman said Strachey would be informed of all strategy discussed at The Hague, Shinwell, in London, also de scribed the report as "silly." The report was carried by a press association other than the United Press. It said the military chiefs had decided to withhold certain information from Stra chey. Bradley, who headed the U.S. military chiefs, said in London that the report was the first he had heard about it. On his arriv al here, Bradley hurried off to the Pentagon before he could be questioned. HAPPY HONEYMOON I Vancouver, B.
