unit, water supply, bathroom fa
cilities, and vacancy status. Other
questions will be asked of persons
falling on sample lines , in the t
enumeration and will include ad
ditional questions in regard to
equipment and fixtures In the
dwelling.
Forms for Farmers
Besides the questions asked ot
all persons in the census, farmers
will fill out an additional ques
tionnaire mailed to tnem last
week by the census bureau. Al-,
though not necessary, It will
speed up the census if farmers
fill out these questionnaires be
fore the census taker arrives.
There are 37 questions on the
form.
All census enumerators must
carjy Identification cards. Mrs.
Arnold warned citizens to ask to
see this card if there is any ques
tion in regard to the identity of an
enumerator. She also pointed out
that each census taker has taken
an oath of secrecy and faces a
prison sentence and a heavy fine,
for revealing any information
gathered during the census.
Iiciewteu in iu
According to Mrs. Arnold, a
preliminary census forhe city of
Bend will probably be released by
her office early in May. Any
towns under 10,000 population
also may receive preliminary fig
ures in May by requesting them
from Her office in the Reld school
in Bend, she stated.
Assisting Mrs. Arnold is Oscar
E. Hoover, assistant district su
pervisor. Two census crew lead
ers, Charlotte White and Willis
Weber, will be in direct charge'
of the 18 enumerators in Des
chutes county. Members of the
district office staff include Mrs.
Leonard Warren, administrative
clerk; Mrs. Marvin J. Scott, pay
roll clerk; James M. Mlxon, sup
ply and assignments clerk; and
William J. Fluke, of the depart
ment of agriculture, borrowed by
the census bureau as a technical
assistant.
The irrigation and drainage
survey in this area is being di
rected by Lloyd Burnett, from
the soil conservation service.
Persons unwilling to answer
orally the questions regarding
economic status may obtain from
the enumerator a special form,
which may be filled out and sent .
directly to the bureau of census
in Washington. . -,

not an uncommon yield for cran
