To Make Home in California

mond, became the bride of Her
man Charles Sehlingman, son of
Mr. and Mrs. H. bchlingman of

Rev. Virgil Savage, of the First
Baptist church of Redmond, offl

The bride was given in mar
riage by her father. She wore a
gown of white slipper satin with
fitted bodice, off-the-.sho u 1 d e r
flounce and a full-lenglh train,
The tiara which field her finger
tip veil was fashioned of nylon
lace over satin. The bride carried
a bouquet of pink roses and trail
ing white hyacinth.
Attendant Carry Fans
Matron of honor was Mrs. Don
Franks, who wore a pink taffeta
off-the-shoulder gown and carried
a pink net fan with pink and
white carnations. Bridesmaids
were Miss Nila Brintnall and Miss
Cordelia Humphrey. They wore
Diue taireta gowns and carried
blue net fans with pink and white
carnations.
Flower girl, Mary Esther Harbi
son, daughter of Rev. and Mrs.
O. W. Herbison, wore a floor
length dress of pink taffeta. Leo
nard Lee Wright, brother of the
bride, carried the rings on a white
satin pillow.
Vaughn J. Karn of Davis, Calif..
was best man, and ushers were
ioweu ranks ol wend and James
Wright, brother of the bride.
Flowers Deck Church
The church was beautifully dec
orated with baskets of pink car
nations, iris and white stocks.
Fourteen white tapers In two can
delabra burned at the altar. Mrs.
Fred Hodecker played the wed
ding marches and Mrs. Wesley
Baker sang "Always," "Because"
and "The Lord's Prayer."
The bride's mother wore a rose
colored dress with winter white
accessories. The bridegroom's
mother was dressed in gray with
dark blue accessories.
'A reception was held immedi
ately following the ceremony In
the church parish hall, which was
beautifully decorated in nink and
white. Pink tulips and white
stocks graced the three serving
tables, and cellophane fans' serv
ed as a background for the while
tapers. Wedding gifts were uii
played on one large table. Mrs
Oscar Franks and Mrs:- W. M,
Clark, who poured, and Mrs. Lew
Flanks, who served the bride's
cake, had been In charge of deco
rating the hall. Those helping
about the room were the Misses
Altamae McFall, Pauline Franks.
Joan ruis and r ranees 1'helps
Mrs. C. Cotton of Modesto, Calif.,
had charge of the guest book.
Out-of-town guests included the
bridegrooms mother, the best
man. Mrs. Cotton and Mrs. Da e
Giubb of Klamath Falls.
To Live In Davis
The young couple took a short
trip to California, and have re
turned to Redmond. . After Feb.
10, they will be at home in Davis,
Calif.

Sehlingman is a graduate of Red
mond union high school and of

in roruanu. She has been em
ployed until recently at the city
recorder's office In Redmond.
Sehlingman is a graduate of (Jold
Beach high school. He was In the
air force for two years and is now
a student at the University of
California.
The bride and her parents are
former Bend residents.
Couple Wed at Local Church
Annual meeting of Trinity Epis
copal church will be held in con
nection with a potluck dinner
Sunday evening In the parish
hall. Vestrymen are to be elected.
Persons bringing food were re
quested to have their dishes in
the kitchen promptly at 5:30.

Miss Betty Rae Lynn became the bride of Jack Finlev Watson, at
on informal candlelight ceremony Saturday, Jan. 28, at 8 p.m.' at the
First Christian church. Rev. Len B. Fishback offiicated, in a setting
of flowers and lighted tapers.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Zakit, of 525 Colo
rado. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Evelvn Watson, of Carroll
Acres. , .
Pianist for the ceremony was Mrs. Len B. Fishback. who nlavpH
"I Love You Truly" and "O' Promise Me."
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a two-tone suit in
brown, with a white carnation corsage. Her sister. Miss Edith I.vnn.
was her attendant. She wore a gold afternoon dress, with a red car
nation corsage.
PFC Gene Watson, home from army service in Alaska, was best
man for his twin brother. La Verne Fagg ushered.
After the ceremony, a reception was held In the church parlors.
Mrs. B. C. Straughn cut the weddine cake, and Miss Hazel Mariisnn
and Miss Barbara Gllstrop poured. Among those present was the
bride's grandmother, Mrs. Nettle Burris, who came to Bend recently
from Jacksonville, Fla., to make her home.
The young Mr. and Mrs. Watson are at home In Bend, at 805 Wall
street.

uate regent, Women of the
Moose, has received the senior
regent's award of achievement,
given for outstanding accom
plishments during her term as
senior regent, in 1949. She also
met the requirements for the
college of regents degree. Bo
fore serving as senior regent,
she held the office of Argus of
the lodge In 1947, and was re
corder in 1948. Her senior re
gent's pin, sent by Zola Kenny,
grand recorder, was presented
at the last chapter meeting.
Mrs. Taylor lives at 1474 Cumberland.
Early use of insecticides In the
spring is recommended.
FILM TO BE SHOWN
A new film, recommended by
educators and youth workers as
an answer to youngsters' ques
tions about physical development;
will be shown Tuesday, Feb. ?, at
4 p.m. in the Thompson school
auditorium. All Camp Fire girls
and their mothers have been in
vited to attend.
"The film is outstanding, and it
is one that girls and their moth
ers should view together," Mrs.
Joe Elder, Camp Fire executive
secretary, said today. Mothers
were requested to make every
effort to accompany their daugh
ters, but if they are unable to do
so, they are to make arrange
ments with Mrs. Elder, it was
announced. '
OFFICE HOURS GIVEN
Next week, the Camp Fire of
fice in the Coble building will he
open Monday and Friday after
noons only, the executive secre
tary announced. The following
week, the regular schedule will
be resumed.

Miss Gladys A. Vickers, of
Hollywood, Calif., arrived In
Bend yesterday and met last
night with VFW committees to
discuss casting for "Laugh It
Off,", home-talent show to be
presented by the veterans'
group Feb. 17 and 18, in the
high school gymnasium.
Women's Chorus
ToxMeet Monday
' In spite of the record-tieing cold
weather Monday night, 15 women
were present In the balcony music
room in the school gymnasium, to
organize a women's chorus group.
The group, part of the city rec
reation program, is co-sponsored
by the American Legion auxil
iary. Sponsors hope to build up
a chorus of 40 or 50 voices, and
all women who are interested
were urged to attend the meeting
next Monday at 7:30 p.m., in the
gymnasium balcony room.
At this week's meeting, Mrs.
W. E. Parsons was elected presi
dent. Grant Mathews is director,
and Mrs. Bernice Towner Is ac
companist. At the rehearsal next
Monday, a name will be selected.
