Mr. and Mrs. P. R. Buckingham of Bend were dinner guests Wed nesday evening at the home ol Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Ullman. Mrs. Guy McLoughlin hag been a patient at the St. Charles hos pital since last Thursday. Mrs. Blaine Gammon returned home Monday night f rora Spo kane, where she had spent a week visiting at the home ol her niece and family, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Harris. Sne also visited at the home ol her brother-in-law, George LaPxey. The Nimble-Thimble Clothing II 4-H club met at the home oi. their leader, Mrs. C. J. de Sully last Thursday afternoon. After the business meeting, making' cot ton dresses was discussed and refreshments were served by Mar got Milius, Shirley Howard and Nellie Curtis. The next meeting will be held on Thursday, Feb ruary 2. Mr. and Mrs. Vince Gallagher and daughter, of Redmond, were dinner guests on Sunday at the home of Mrs. Gallagher's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Edglngton. The Sisters high school basket ball team played the Lapine team at Lapine last Friday night. La pine won by a score of 31 to 19. The girls' teams played volleyball, with a score of 32 to 28 in favor of Lapine. However, only five members of the Sisters volleyball team were able to be present. Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Ullman en tertained with a pinochle party at their home last Saturday night. Prizes for high scores were won by Mrs. Bill Turner and Jerry Benson. Prizes for low scores were won by Nellie Bembry and Pete Leithauser. The traveling prize was won by Mrs. Francis Henderson. Refreshments were served by the hostess. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Benson, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Tur ner, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Turne-, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Leithauser, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gustafson, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Henderson, Mrs. Nellie Bembry and Dick Day.. Al's grocery, which was form erly owned by Al Howison, has been taken over by Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Smith of Bend. It has been announced that the name of the store will be changed to the E. and E, market. Mrs. Melvin McClain entertain ed with a birthday party in honor of her son, Scott's, sixth birthday anniversary at her home Satur day afternoon. The children en joyed favors and caps. After the opening of the gifts the hostess served refreshments. ' Mr. and Mrs. George Meyers and sons spent Sunday in Red mond at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Cork and family. While in Redmond Mrs. Meyers also vis ited her brother's infant daugh ter, Marilyn Sue Thomas, who has pneumonia and is a patient at the Medical-Dental clinic. The Four Leaf Clover 4-H Cook ing I club met Tuesday, January 3, at the home of their leader, Mrs. Byron Evans. Five mem bers and one visitor were pres ent Remoa Matson, president, presided at the meeting. After the business meeting games were played and refreshments were served by Remoa Matson. The Sisters P.T.A. held its reg ular meeting at the grade school on Wednesday evening, January 4. Mrs. Richard McKenzie, presi dent, conducted the meeting. Dur ing the business meeting it was announced that because of insuf ficient places for the younger children to play and because of the how longer bus route the noon hour for the schools will be shortened to one-half hour and school will take up at 12:30 p.m. and will dismiss a half hour ear lier in the afternoon during the extreme cold weather. Byron Evans also reported that the ten tative date for the showing of the film, "Human Growth," has been set for March 6. Parents may pre-view the film in the morning before the afternoon showing. Mrs. Homer Matson's first grade won the room count prize. Mrs. , William Lamborn, who was a member of the P.T.A. and recently moved to the Willamette valley, made the P.T.A. a gift of a chicken fryer and an electric clock which will be used in the school cafeteria. After the "busi ness meeting a program was pre sented which included a talk by the county school superintendent, Mrs. Velma Buckingham, on "The. Functions of the Rural School Board of Directors and the Basic School Support Fund," and music numbers by the 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade students under the direction of Mrs. Ruth Michel. Refreshments were served after the program. The next regular meeting will be held February 1. The Sisters grade school bas ketball teams and the girls' volley ball team played the Terrebonne teams Friday night at the Sis ters gym. The Terrebonne bas ketball teams won with the fol lowing scores: First team 22 to 20, second team 10 to 9. The Sisters girls won the volleyball game with a score of 64 to 21. After the games chili and punch were served to the participating teams, by the seventh and eighth grades and the room mothers. The next game is scheduled with Powell Butte at the Sisters gym. The Careful Cooks 4-H Cook ery II and III clubs met at the home of their leader, Mrs. Lewis Luckenbill, last Saturday after noon. After the business meet ing Kathleen Larson and Margot Milius gave a food demonstra tion. Birthday presents were presented to Sondra Reese and Shirley Lewis. Mrs. Isobelle Sorensen left Mon day to spend a few days in Port land. The potluck dinner at the Sis. ters Church of Christ on Sunday was attended by a large number of people. After the dinner the annual church board and congre gational meeting was held, at which time yearly reports were made and officers were elected for the coming year. Officers elected were as follows: Chair man of the board, Clifford Dob bins; elders, Jesse Smalley, Clif ford Dobbins, C. F. Sunkler and Perit Huntington; trustees, Mrs. Isobelle Sorensen, Maurice Hitch cock and Loyd Hewitt; clerk, Mrs. Clifford Dobbins; treasurer, Mrs. Clarence Sunkler; pianist, Clara Sunkler; . assistant pianist, Mrs. George Knox; Sunday school su perintendent, Ralph Ziegler; as sistant Sunday school superin tendent, Mrs. Clarence Sunkler. There were also eight deacons and 15 deaconesses elected. Dur ing the meeting Mr. and Mrs. George Knox and John Smith gave a humorous reading and a musical number. George Knox of Northwest Christian college at Eugene is the pastor of the Sis ters Church of Christ and John Knox also of N. C. C, is assistant youth director. NEW!
