The authors are Noel Bennion, O.S.C. extension poultry special ist; E. R. Jackman, farm crops seciallst, and u. s. l-ietc.1er. Lane county extension agent. They explain the saving will de pend upon the quantity and qual ity oi the green leert. Also im portnnt fci now the birds are ro tated. The specialists point out that irrigated ranges, while producing an abundance of green feed as compared with non-irrigated, do have the handicap of being an ideal place for disease organ isms and parasites to multiply. If chickens or turkeys are run on irrigated range the bulletin au thors recommend that birds be rotated frequently. Four of the best crops, accord ing to the bulletin, which pro vide palatable green feed during the summer months without irri gation are winter rye, Sudan grass, sunflowers and corn the latter two being used extensively for turkeys. A handy reference guide for seeding and using green feeds and pasture is in the bulletin frontis piece.
