PAGE TWO THE BEND BULLETIN, BEND, OREGON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 24, 1949 Ideal Weather For Skiing Seen During Week End Winter sports enthusiasts of central Oregon are looking for ward to Indeal skiing conditions over the Christmas holidays, as a result of heavy falls of snow in the nearby Cascades In the past week. Deepest snow In the entire Cascade range, from Mt, Hood south to Crater lake, has been re ported from the Santiam summit. Some 50 inches of snow covers the Santiam divide, with the Hoo doo bowl, one of Oregon's major ski centers, well blanketed. Ski tows will be operating at the bowl, a short distance south of the Santiam highway at the summit, and at the Santiam lodge every day through the holidays and up to the first of the year. Plan Special Events Special events are being plan ned for the lodge, Bill Lauder back, manager of the resort, re ports. The tow Just west of the lodge will be In operation daily, he reported. Buclcy Walters To Coach Braves Boston, Dec 24 UP William (Bucky) Walters, alter 12 succes sive seasons with the Cincinnati Reds, today joined the Boston Braves as a pitching coach. Walters, manager of the Reds during 1949, was made "a good of fer," according to Braves general manager John J. Quinn, and agreed to terms from his Phila delphia home. Before leaving Cincinnati for his new job, Walters was given the "benediction and best wishes" by Charles C. Giles, president of the Reds. Kreiger played only a part of the game, having fouled out one minute into the second half. Take Early ljead The Bears ran up a total of 9 points in the first quarter of the game before Krieger dropped a field goal to make the score 9-2.
