in a Christmas pageant, "The
Holy NiRht," hy Florence Con
verse, Friday, Dec. 23, at 7:30 p.
m. at the church. The paRcant,
with an old KiiRlish setting, is
patterned on the fourteenth cen
tury legend that on the night
Jesus was born, animals were
also to speak.
The play, last given In Bend In
1931. with Mrs, 1'hil SturgeJ In
charge, is being directed by Mrs.
Sterling Sorenson. In some cases,
youngsters of the church school
are the second generation to take
part in the pageant.
Principal characters will In
clude the following: Ann Mackey,
Mary; Robert Young. Joseph;
Ned Mackey, Gary Gentry and
Dick Bcnold, leading shepherds;
Robert Mullins, John Prlchard
and Billy Akin, wise men; Sally
Nielsen, anscl Gabriel; Paul Ben
old. Richard Hemingway, Craig
Nielsen, Frederick Bates and
Philip Young, animals at the man
ger scene. All other girls in the
church school will portray angels,
and the boys will appear as shep
herds. Assisting with the production
are Mrs. K. E. sawyer, organist;
Mrs. C. L. McAllister, Mrs. Wil
son George and Mrs. Allen Young,
costumes; Bryce Mullins and W.
It Nance, properties, and Sterling
Sorenson and K. E. Sawyer, light
ing. H. W. Davy made the halos.

Christmas Party
Well Attended
. Fifty persons attended the an
nunl Christmas dinner and parly
for IVschutcs canton No. li and
the ladies' auxiliary. Patriarchs
Militant, last Friday evening in
the lOOF hall. A program and a
social hour, with gifts exchanged,
followed the dinner.
Walter Daum gave the invoca
tion. The dinner was prepared by
Mrs. Kenneth Arnold, Mrs. Eva
Winters, Mrs. Clara Smith and
Mrs. D. N. Graham. Mrs. Walter
Daum and Mrs. Maude Iknens
arranged the decorations, assist-!
ed by Mrs. Arnold, Walter Daum
and J. Rae.
A brief business meeting fol
lowed the dinner, with Miss Char
lotte Easton, auxiliary president,
presiding. Mis. Paul Brookings
and Mrs. Daum were in charge of
the program.

tary-treasurer, are the 1950 offi
cers of the Lutheran ladies' aid.

day at the home of Mrs. Wenke.
The new president will appoint
committees at the January meet
ing, to be held at Mrs. Simonsen's
home.
After the business session, the
group packed a Christmas box for
the Lutheran Children's home at
Parkland, Wash. A social hour
followed.

lovely Christmas party Tuesday
evening at the home of Mrs. Pearl
Lancaster. Games and cards were
enjoyed, and refreshments, fur
nished by the auxiliary members,
were served by the hostess. An ex
change of gifts completed the eve
ning's entertainment.

Band Concert
Offers Variety
Redmond. Dec. 21 Tile winter
band concert presented by the
Redmond high school band, last
night in the hlh school gymna
sium, ran the gamut from classics
to comedy. A musical skit, "Rag
time Wedding," featuring soloists,
quartets and exhibitions of baton
twirling, was a highlight of the
evening.
Frank de Lespinasso, head of
the music department, was in
charge, assisted by Miss M. Holm.
Proceeds were ear-marked for a
fund to purchase band uniforms.
The band will present another
concert in the spring, de Lespi
nassee has announced.
