New York, Dec. 15 till "The
llrnl" und "The Up" were bark
together again today vowing lo
bury the lintrliel mid vent their
long term spite on the pennunl
proud Brooklyn Dodgers, once
their club but now u far from
favored rlvul.
"Hie Hint" -- Kdille Slanky -
mid "The Up"- U-o Durorher--oure
formed a voliinble, danger
ous duo for the Dodgers. They
came lo Hie parting of the wnys
in the spring of 1!M8 when Slan
ky, sold lo the Knives, charged
that Durorher "knlleil me In the
back."
Hut Durorher, who also left the
Dodgers In mid seuxon of the
same year, yesterday Irnded four
players, Wlllarci Marshall, Sid
(iordun, Buddy Kerr und Sam
Webb, to get- buck Stanky and his
Infield partner. Al Dark.
There were Iwo reasons for this
move. Stunky ulways has been
Leo's type player -a mouthy, all
out guy who never nulls trying
and. If ni'i'ittsnry, would go Into
second with Ills spikes high If his
grandmother was covering the
bag. Stunky could, und undoubt
edly will, Imruill some fight into
Hie New York Cjlant beef trust,
whose chief limit has been a lazy
lethargy.
Also "Cleaning House"
The other reason Is that, us
trades by Hilly Southworlh of the
Braves have proved, that he is
cleaning house of a faction which
opKscd Mis policies, despite his
insistence that he would not
break up the club for that reason.
Stunky. lontiii-li'd by telephone
at his Mobile, Ala., home, did not
know in advance that the trade
was cooking. Hut he left no doubt
that dnce again lie was ready to
be "U-o's boy."
"I have always been loyal to
my munncei ." he said. "None can
accuse me of loafing or not giv
ing every tiling-on the field. That's
the only way I know to play the
game. I have always resected
Leo's ability on the field.

staff writers In each league city.
The Browns, four-time cham
pions In the brief four-year his

of the New York Yankees joined
Kymkus at tackle, and Dick Bar
wegnn of Baltimore and Vlsco
Grglch of San Francisco were
placed at guard to round out the
first team line.
The backfield represents versa
tility. With Graham's passing,
there Is the outside running bril
liance of Buddy Young of the
Yankcss and Chct Mutryn of Buf
falo at the hnlfbncks and the In
side smashing of Joe Perry of
San Francisco at fullback.
