In December
Miss Margaret Cornell lias set
Saturday, December 11, as the
date for her wedding. She is the
bride-elect of Robert E. Dudrey,
.son of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Dudrey.
The engagement was announced
recently oy Miss Cornell's grand
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter
iamitn, ox uary, Indiana. The wed
ding will be performed at First
lAttneran church, at 4 p.m.
Miss Cornell, who is speech cor-
reetionist for the Bend public
schools, received her B.S. and M.
S. degrees from Indiana State
leaeners college, at Terre Haute.
While on the campus she was af
filiated -with Chi Omega sorority;
Theta Alpha Phi, honorary dra
matic fraternity, and Lambda Psi
Sigma, special education frater
nity. Dudrey was graduated from
Bend high school and received his
B.S. degree from the University
of Oregon. While on the Oregon
campus, he was affiliated with
Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He is
employed at the U. S. National.

played several selections, accom
panied by her mother, Mrs. Ber
nice Towner. Group singing, with

pleted the program.

bert Nelson, principal; Mrs. Vul
borg Fisher, first grade; Miss
Ruth Burler, second grade; Mrs.
Donalene Hemenway, third grade,
and Mrs. Ethel Obernoltc, fourth
grade.
Mrs. W. W. Brown . was in
charge of refreshments for the
evening, and Mrs. Stranahan and
Mrs. Conner arranged the pro
gram. The next meeting will be Jan
uary 16 at Yew Lane school, omit
ting the December meeting be
cause of the usual heavy Christ
mas schedule.
Hoover Report
To Be Studied
By Bend Groups
Study of the Hoover commis
sion report, with a view toward
putting into effect recommenda
tions designed to increase effi
ciency in government, has been
launched in Bend, 'with commit
tees from the Business and Pro
fessional Women's club, the Jun
ior chamber of commerce and
the Bend Teachers association to
spearhead a program of public
education.
A dinner meeting of representa
tives of the three groups will be
held Monday evening, November
28, at the Pine tavern. The BPW
committee includes Miss Clara
r,: Jones, chairman. Mrs. W. F. An
drews, Mrs. Fred Hale, Miss
Grace Preston, Miss Antoinette
Blais and Mrs. Don Thompson.
Robert Johnson, state Jaycee vice
president, and Frank M. Reis will
represent their organization.
Dean Tate, who has been named
chairman for the teachers' group,
also will be present.
Plans call for establishment of
a speakers' bureau, in coopera
tion with the local Toastmasters
club. Johnson will outline the
proposed program at the Toast
masters meeting next Tuesday
evening. Literature also is to he
distributed to civic organizations

their regular business meeting

charge. A program arranged by

were recitations by Margaret
Holman, Gale Thompson and
Lynnea Haugeberg, a solo bv
Robin Rixe and a duet bv Carol
Skiersaa and Tonva Wolf. '

dent of the Bend guardians' coun
cil, was a special guest. Mothers

Mrs. Irene Maudlin, Salem, and Walter Maudlin, Burns. She was
graduated from high school in the capital city.
The wedding was an event of Nov. 12, with Rev. Fr. Vincent Egan
performing the ceremony at 4 o'clock, in Holy Family Catholic
church. Mrs. Carl Reis and Mrs. M. Fell were soloists, and Mrs.
I-annie Welcom was organist. The candlelight ceremony was per
formed in a setting of pink and white chrysanthemums.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white
siipper satin, with fingertip veil and a Juliet cap. She carried a white
prayer book, with a white orchid and streamers tied with orange
blossoms.
Miss Georgia Blinn, of Bend, was maid of honor, wearing a gown
of aqua net. She wore a headband ot violets and yellow chrysanthe
mums, matching her colonial nosegay.
Bridesmaids were Miss Marie Da"ly, Bend, and Miss Georgia Fau
cett, Burns. They wore matching gowns of yellow satin. Their head
bands and nosegays were like those of the maid of honor.
Robert Engstrom, Burns, was best man, and ushers were Jack
Hoffman Jr. and Bud Salisbury.
