Tony, who was released from the Isolation ward o( Good Samaritan hostptal. Tony was taken to Port land a week ago to receive treat ment lor polio. Hill McCiinnls, an employe of the telephone company In bend, entered the Medical-Dental hos pital Monday night. McGinnls was suffering from cuts and bruises received In a car accident. A motor caravan, representing Redmond, will travel to the dedi cation ceremony of the new Bear spring cut-off Sunday, November 13. Mr. and Mrs. James Griffin of Eugene are spending some time with Mrs. Tom Lee. Mrs. Lee and Mrs. Griffin are sisters. Hugh Hartman will head a committee which Includes FYed Hodeckcr and Derrell Sharp to set up a king ana queen contest to be a feature of the national Kids day celebration on Novem ber 19. Mrs. Verne Hassler was honor ed at a shork shower Wednesday night at the home of Mrs. H. J. Bollinger. Mrs. Gordon Smith and Mrs. Bob Campbell were hostesses. Mrs. Hassler is the for mer Doris McKadden. Redmond Church of Christ won recognition for having the largest representation at the Fifth Sun day rally of the central uregon Churches of Christ at the Madras church, Sunday. Jesse Smalley of Sisters was elected chairman of the Central Oregon Churches of Christ at a business session Sunday at Mad ras. Other officers chosen at the election were Bob Maxwell of Redmond, vice-chairman, and Mrs. Winona Kribbs, of Bend, secretary-treasurer. Holiday Refreshments was the topic for demonstration at the north home extension unit, Tues day, November 8th at the home of Mrs. G. H. Ferguson. Redmond library will be closed next Friday and Saturday to give the library workers a chance to prepare for book week, Novem ber 13 19. SOUTHWEST REDMOND Southwest Redmond, Nov. 10 (Special) Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Gibson of Clinton, Wash., spent a week ago Wednesday with Mr. and Mrs. Ray Surface and fam ily. Mrs. Gibson is Mr. Surface's mother. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Johnson and daughter left Sunday on a business trip to Nevada. Ed Powell and Rolland Gridley of Sisters called Sunday at the Owen Brown home. Mrs. L. Ross of Portland is visiting at the home of her sister. Mrs. A. Nys. Mrs. Nys has been on the sick list. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd McCurdy of Bend and Austin fiams of Cor vallis visited Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Holt. Mr. Iiams and Mr. Holt were school-chums in Nebraska and had not seen each other since 1904. Mrs. Everett Parr attended the Terrebonne grange H.E.C. meet ing at Terrebonne Thursday. Clyde and Carroll Penhollow, David Welch and Jimmie Enlow spent Sunday with Richard and Clifford Brown. Mr. and Mrs. Milfred Wallen burg and daughter spent Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Ray Surface and family. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wilden were Saturday evening visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Hopper of Tumalo. This policy has been observed In the past, and the chamber could see no Justifica tion for making a change. The chamber Is making plans for Its annual "Welcome Dinner" for newcomers to Redmond. M. A. Lynch is in charge of arrange ments and J. R. Roberts will in troduce and welcome the guests. This dinner will take the place of the next regular meeting, and it will be held Tuesday evening. November 15, at the Redmond hotel. FACES MURDER COUNT Roseburg, Nov. 10 iU" Joseph Louis Kiel, 42, of Myrtle Creek. Ore., will stand trial Nov. 2S for the murder of Stanley James Tucker, 47. Tucker's body was found Sun day south of Myrtle Creek. Kiel pleaded Innocent on two charges brought by the Douglas county grand Jury Tuesday. He was charged with murdering Tucker by strangling him and with mur dering Tucker while engaged In robbery. BEND STUDENT HONORED Oregon State College, Corvallls, Nov. 10 (Special) Joseph Gerald Toole, a graduate of Bend high school, was among over 200 stu dents honored this week at the annual "honors accolade" of Phi Kappa Phi. national scholastic honorary.
