Stout Steven Owen, the New York Giant football coach, played a lot of football back in the days when he was an all pro league tackle. So it gives you an inter esting tipoff on that ponderous Minnesota line when he says: "I watched Minnesota scrim mage recently. And, I might say, that while I've done a bit of-scrim-maging in my time I was mighty glad to be sitting on the sidelines just watching." . .'. Which should be of note to such future oppon ents as Ohio State, Michigan, Pur due, Iowa, Pitt and Wisconsin. Conservation corner: There are nearly 500 species of humming birds and they are found only in the new world. (We have the edge in bebop, too.) ' i 'si',.-- The Rumanian government, through the state society for the improvement, of horse stocks, has ordered that race horses bearing American or English names must have their names changed. The horse Kansas, for example, was renamed Kneaz They should have named him Siberia, where a nag of that type should be con signed. One figure Philbert points out that the New York Yankees are the entire difference between the American and National leagues. In world series play, the Ameri can league has won 29 champion ships and the National league has won 17. The difference Is 12 which is just the number the Yanks have won. Workmen are now engaged in pushing interior work. Installation of the heating system, it was reported, has ad vanced to a point where testing of coils in the south wing of the structure will be made this week end. Few Trout Found In Poiscn Zone Prlnevllle. Oct. 15 Bcb Boro vicka, aquatic biologist for the state game commission, who with a crew of 25 men Wednesdny com- pleted the destruction of fish life In the Ochoco irrigation reservoir seven miles east of here and in 100 miles of streams of the water shed, reported that the proportion of trout found In the reservoir, it self, was negligible. However, in deep pools of the tributary streams, especially in Marks creek, Borovicka and his aides salvaged some exceedingly fine rainbows. The rotenone, used in the poisoning operation, aimed at cleaning out a population of trash fish that had made the reservoir a poor place for trout life, in no way affects the edibilitv of t!ie fish killed. Borovicka presented numerous families here with fine messes of trout, some of them over 14 inch es in length. The larger fish, it is thought, were left from a plant ing of about 1,500 rainbows of more than legal size, which were brought here from the Oak Springs fish hatcherv on the Des chutes river near Maupin last spring. j Prineville Rail Line Profitable Prlnevllle, Oct.
