Second street. Pictured at the right, receiving her certificate, is Mrs. Marion Dubuis, president of the association. In the center is Mrs. Joe C. Wright, a registered nurse, who taught the course. Presentation of the certificates was made by Mrs. Joe Elder, left, a member of the Bend school board. Also present at the meeting was J. Wilson Bilyeu, trades and industries coordinator. The course was given at the Deschutes Count1 Sunset home, under auspices of the Oregon State Nurses association, district No. 14, and the Oregon state board of vocational education. At the completion of the course, examinations were given. Names appeared on the certificates as follows: Merrill Jones, Elda Sheffold, Mildred. Johnson, Mary O'Doherty, Marie Kohfield, Mary Ellen Smith, Delia Berridge, Vivian Hicks, Myrth Scott, Elizabeth Brooks, Edith Cook,' Magdaline Humphrey, Marion Dubuis, Helen Richard, Ethel Rohbins, Ruth Moye, Nellie Van Hise, Clara Blackshear, Ada Newby and Augustine McCarthy. ! SttI Oreeon practical nurses' associa Square Dancers Form Nucleus For Bend, League , Organisation of a square dance club composed of adult couples interested in western style danc ing for recreation purposes took place at a meeting last night in the high school gymnasium. In cluded in the club wifl be 20 or 30 couples, most of whom learned the fundamentals of square danc ing last year when groups first received instruction here. A name for the new club will be selected later. ' Marion Cady was elected presi dent of the square dancers, with Phil F. Brogan named vice-president and Mrs. Bradford N. Pease to serve as secretary-treasurer. Directors elected are Dr. J. S. Grahlman, Kenneth Cale, Ralph Adams and Ray LeBlanc Claude Cook was named program chair man. Other clubs will be organized later, to form a local league of square dancers. The group that organized last night voted to af filiate with the state association. Purpose of the new club will be to provide enjoyment and recrea tion for the members, and help promote square dancing as a com munity activity by providing dem onstration groups for publicity and education purposes, assist in training callers and aid in the formation of other clubs. As soon as possible, club mem bers will choose a typical western costume, to add color to the ses sions, the new offfcers said. The club was formed under the city recreation program. Most of the members joined in square dance parties several times this past summer. Also installed were the follow ing: Joan Fuls, past president: Marian House, vice-president; Judy Fuls. recording secretary; Carolee Solum, financial secre tary; Beverly Hanson, treasurer; Sheriill Gay, chaplain; Donna Rhodes, conductor. Betty Crane, warden; Billie Banks, right supirter to the president ; Kay Meagher, lett- supporter to the president; Joan Darst. musician; Eula Mae Cha vis, marshal; Barbara Fuller, right supporter to the vice-president; Nancy Fuller, left support er to the vice-president. Mrs. Frank Gray, district depu ty president of the Rebekah lodge, was in general charge of the installation. She presented a past president's pin to Miss Fuls. Mrs. Fred Gibson was installing officer, assisted by the following installing staff: Mrs. C. E. Hein, marshal; Miss Kathryn Kelley, vice-president; Mrs. Park Flem ing, chaplain; 'Mrs. A. B. Bur leigh, recording secretary; Mrs. Earl Weber, financial secretary, and Mrs. Ted Meagher, treasurer. Plans were completed for the annual Theta Rho fall formal, to be held Saturday night, Oct. 1, In the IOOF hall. "Stardust" will be the theme for the party. Members of the club are to meet Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m. at the home of Miss House, 112 Drake road, to make programs lor the altair.
