' Bell "Kidnaped But a group of USC students absconded with the bell after the 1941 game and It was agreed the winner of the annual football game would retain possession for one year. Another trophy which was bit terly fought for was the Stanford axe. Forged In 1899 by Stanford students, it was taken by Califor nia following that year's baseball game. Not until 1930 did Stanford manage to regain possession of the trophy, and then by subter fuge. The axe was finally made the award to the pigskin victor In 1933. The universides of Arizona and New Mexico annually vie for pos session of the "Kit Carson rifle" have ind Texas and Oklahoma the "cowboy hat" at stake. Lee Gustafson, new coach of the local school, who came here from Oregon State college, de clares that he Is expecting better coordination of players In the game with the Rangers.
