Redmond, Sept. 7 (Special)
Puffy Knorr and Mr. and Mrs.
Bill Ryan left for Salem last week
Id attend the state fair. Mm.
Knoir and daughter, Kay. re
mained In Redmond to attend the
wedding of Miss Mavis Knorr and
Raymond Jones, Sunday after
noon at 2 o'clock. Immediately
after the wedding Mrs Knorr and
Kay left for Salem. They plan to
return Sunday night.
Westminster Fellowship groups
did not hold their regular meet
ings Sunday evening due to the
fact that Mr. and Mrs. Wesley
Baker were at Camp Wyeth.
Rev. and Mrs. Wesley Baker and
daughter, Rebecca, left Sunday
alternoon for Camp Wyeth where
Mr. Baker is acting as Instructor i
for delegates who are holding a j
retreat there.
John Murphy, whose bicycle
was stolen during the IVschutes
county fair, reports that the
frame was found in the exhibi
tion building but It was minus
pans.
Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Iarive, Jim,
Joe and Joan, returned Sunday
from a visit with Larive's brother
and sister-in-law In Hermlston.
C. E. Thompson left Sunday
morning for Portland on business.
He will be gone several days.
Sunday, the Community Pres
byterian church held its annual
church school picnic on the Me
tolius river. The group left the
church immediately after com
mon worship. Floyd Barton Sr.
and Herbert Eby were in charge
of transportation. Mrs. Frank
Bednarek was general chairman.
Miss MSloise Allen has taken
employment at the Christian ice
cream parlors.
Mrs. Bert Kramer. Mrs. Walter
Hepner and Mrs. I. M. Davies
returned Thursday from a two
day retreat af the Willamette
Presbyterial society at Nelscott.
They will report on the retreat at
the monthly guild meeting.
Mrs. Virginia Vance entertain
ed Miss Ruby Stephenson, Miss
Virginia" Berg, Miss Margaret
Holm, Miss Eleanor Leonnig and
Miss Margaret Hook at Sunday
dinner.
Wiss Vivian Earnest, who has
spent the summer in Ontario, re
turned to Culver Saturday morn
ing. - Miss Earnest has been em
ployed packing sweet corn. She
lived with her brother-in-law and
sister, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Sikes,
while she was there.
Claude Butler and Vic Morton
are on a hunting trip in Canada.
They planned to go to Prince
George and work out from there.
Hospital Sunday will be observ
ed at the- Redmond Community
Preslivterlnn church Sunday.
Sept. 11.
Mrs. Ella Nelson, who has
taught at St. Mary's, Ma., and
Richland. Wash., has been added
to the grade school staff to re
place Mrs. Bertha Severin, who
resigned because of 111 health
Mis. Nelson will teach the sev
enth grade.
Mrs. Victor Clark and children.
Barbara and Bobbie, have moved
to Redmond from Vancouver,
Wash., to Join Mr. Clark who Is
manager of Pant and Russell mill.
Clark has been here lor some
time.
Harold Watson, from McMinn
ville, has taken a position at the
Chammers Glass and Paint sup
ply. The Watsons have an apart
ment in the Rainev building.
Official opening for the Central
Oregon Memorial hospital cam
paign has been scheduled for
Friday, Sept 9. J. R. Roberts
is the general chairman for the
committee, and group leaders are
Gavle Bartel, Ken Munkres, Jay
Shively and C. E. Thompson.
Mitch Thome of The Dalles
was a house guest of Mr. and Mrs.
C. E. Thompson over the week
end. Thome managed the Miss
Redmond contest for the cham
ber of commerce this spring.

will show stock at the state fair
this week. M. Caffery and Kuhn
took the stock to Salem Saturday.

Wesley C. Baker of the Com'
munlty Presbyterian church was
recently elected to the executive
board ol the Oregon Council of
Churches. He will represent the
synod of Oregon of the Presby
terian church on the council, lie
will take office September 8 In
Portland.
Donald Wolf, who has been em
ployed in Eugene during the sum
mer, has returned to Redmond to
complete his senior year at Red
mond union high school.
Mist- Barbara Scharbach of
Clarkston, Wash., will make her
home with Mrs Eula Kilgore dur
ing the school term. She is a
member of the grade school staff.
Grade teachers met at the
John Tuck school Friday at 10
a.m. for a three-part training
session.
English instructors at Redmond
union high school met Saturday
night at d p.m. at the home of
Rusty (Idris) Davies to make
plans for the English department
for the school term. Davies, as
head of the department, took
charge of the meeting.

Leonnig, sophomore English;
Miss Virginia Berg, freshman
English; Mrs. Flora Thompson,
development English, and Mrs.
Maude Lee, librarian, attended.
