Toastmasters met Thursday, AuRUSt 1'3, at the Redmond hotel banquet room. Keith Parkinson acted os program chairman, sub stituting (or Earl Hallock, who was on vacation. Regular speak ers had not been appointed, so four members volunteered to speak extemporaneously. Dr. G. W. Christiansen spoke briefly on current trends, Nick Denton on jet planes, Chet Lackey on opening of the new Santiam highway, and u. . Thompson on structural building. Next meeting will be Thursday, August 25. Mrs. Edith Smith spent the past several days visiting her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. I. G. Smith, in Lake Grove, Ore. She returned to Redmond over the week end. Mrs. Zoa Burdick was with Sally Steers, while her mother, Mre. G. Steers, and her grand mother, Mrs. Edith Smith, were on vacation. Mrs. Gladvs Steers, Mrs. Hazel Cate and Miss Clare Templeton have returned from a week's va cation at Reno, Carson City, Vir ginia City and Lake Tahoe. . Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Tinkle of McMinnville have been house guests of Mrs. Tinkle's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Vance. The Tinkles also visited Mr. and Mrs. M. Sandoz of Metollus. Mrs. Clara Stacy and daugh ter, Ellen, went to Portland Wed nesday. Ellen reported to the Shriners' hospital for a physical. The Stacys returned to Redmond Thursday. Mrs. Arthur Irvin of Spring Held was a guest of her sister-in-law, Hrs. Clara Stacy, Monday. Mrs. Charles Wiley of north east Redmond spent Monday with Mrs. Clara Stacy and her guest, Mrs. Arthur Irvin, of Springfield. : Mrs. Davey Jones and children, Judy, Jimmie, Linda and Peggy, and Mrs. Trudie Doollttle and son. Charles, spent the past week vis-1 itlng Mrs. Jones' parents in Grants Pass. They returned to ; Redmond Monday j Mr. and Mrs. Ora Foster and son, Terry, were Bond visitors , Tuesday. ; Jan Christy, daughter of Mr. ! and Mrs. W. A. Christy, is a guest I at the home of her uncle and , aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Christy. ! She plans to remain until after i the fair. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Christy and ; daughter, Jan, of I.os Angeles, were guests of the Eurl Christy family over the week end. The W. A. Christys were former resi dents of Redmond. They oper ated what is now known as the Mary and Mac motel. The Chris tys returned to their home Sun- i day, leaving their daughter, Jan, ! for a longer visit. Mr. and Mrs. I. tchaHhorn are vacationing in California. They spent several weeks in Canada before going to California. Bud Becker arrived in Redmond Saturday evening to spend the week end with his brother-in-law and sister, Rev. and Mrs. Russell McLaren of the Four Square church. Mrs. Russell McLaren and chil dren, Bruce and Linda, accompan ied Mrs. McLaren's brother. Bud Becker, to Amherst, O., for a three weeks' visit with their par ents. The Sunday school members of the Four Square church have raised enough money to purchase new curtains and draperies for the Sunday school rooms. Rev. H. Taylor, evangelist, will conduct the Wednesday night prayer service at the Four Square church. Rev. Taylor formerly pastored the Four Square church in Salem. Young people of the Madras, Prineville, Bend, and Redmond Four Square and Assembly of God churches held a joint meet ing Tuesday night at the Prine ville Assembly of God church. Rev. Russell McLaren accompan ied the Redmond group. Missionary Suiday was observ ed in the Four Square church August 21. C. E. Lynds have organized a 4H band, which made its first appearance Thursday, Au gust 11, at the 411 leaders'" asso ciation banquet at Bend. The band will play August 25 at 8 o'clock at the fairgrounds build ings. Members of thp band are: Cleve Winkle anil Jerome Nichols, cor nets; Carol Bednarek, Shirley Amen, Bettv Rippen, saxophones: Clarissa Berning. flute; Gary Winkle. Rev. Wesley Baker assists with the band. Mrs. Dorothea Hughitt enter tained at bridge Monday night, August 22. A dessert luncheon preceded the game. The afternoon was spent playing games, after which Ice cream on birthday cake was served.
