Bend, vice-president of the federated Garden Clubs of Oregon, was guest speaker, out lining briefly the program being followed in the preservation of the Myrtlewood trees in southwestern Oregon. She was followed by Mss. Clarence klder, who gave a short talk on the need for people in Central Oregon to preserve junl-x-r trees In their natural state, before it Is too late. The tea table, arranged under the direction of Mrs. H. L. Beach, was beautifully appointed with silver tea and coffee services. Crystal candelabra held yellow candles. A striking fan-shaped arrangement of yellow and red gladioli was the centerpiece. Mrs. W. D. Collins and Mrs. Sid Conklin poured the first hour. Mrs. S. H. Stafford, who live at 1312 South 4th street, celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary recently In Klamath Falls, where they made their home before coming here In 1944. The couple were married Aug. 2, 1899. in Wilkes boro, N. C. The golden wedding observance was held July 31 at the home of a daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Elliott, who held open- house in their honor. Sons and -daughters of the couple Include the following: Mrs. James Wall, Vashon Island, Wash.; Mrs. Emmett Barkee, Klamath Falls; Mrs. Glen Miller. Klamath Falls; J. E. Stafford. Nubeiber, Calif.; Clyde Stafford, Wenatchee, Wash.; Paul Stafford, Bend, and Mrs. Elliott, Klamath Falls. There are also 15 grandchildren. Stafford has been a locomotive engineer for the Great Northern railroad for 48 years. When he and his wife were married, they lived in West Virginia, moving west to Washington in 1903. They lived first in Leavenworth and later in Wenatchee, moving to Klamath Falls In 1928.
