By KIImIn-IIi Toomey
fltnltal 1'rtM Huff Crrra,nlnt)
New, York MH Maurice Levy,
a Jovial Krenchmiin with an eye
for American Ix-aulles, wouldn't
be surprised to sen chalk halls
back on feminine dressing tables.
"Kverythlng comes back In
style," he said philosophically,
picking up a box of dead white
face powder in his cosmetic show
room. (Jddly enough, that white face
powder and sceveral other prod
ucts of 50 years ago still sell In
this country. Lovy Imports - the
old-fashioned powder, rouge and
face cream from Krance and does
a comfortable business with It.
Ucuuly spots arc another stock
Item with him.
"fscauty spots come and go," he
explained, "and right now they're
sidling ' pretty slowly." A year
ago, for some reason which the-7.r-year-old
Krcneh Importer can't
explain and refuses to worry
about, there was a sudden rush
for the little black spots.
Good I-ong Ago
"They were very successful In
1720, too," he said, "but there are
long gups when women don't
seem to think about them."
Just to prove that there are
plenty of odd items for cosmetic
use that the average woman
never dreams of, Levy mentioned
another of his specialties.
"I'm the only cosmetic man In
New York who has rabbit paws,"
he said casuully. "I Import around
a thousand dozen a year from Ma
dame Uortrand In Paris."
Kahbit paws, It seems, are used
to put on dry rouge. The tips are
dipped In the rouge and dusted on
the cheeks.
