Mr. and Mrs. Jack Coppack and daughter, Bonnie, and their niece, Diane Clark, left last Friday for Alaska where they will make their home on the Kenai penln aula. They drove to Alaska by way of the Alcan highway. : Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Smith Df Sweet Home spent the week end at the home of Smith's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank McLaughlin. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hagen made a business trip to Portland last Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. George Meyers and sons spent the week end visit ing Mrs. Meyers parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Thomas, at Madras. Dinner guests Sat unlay eve ning at the Clyde Bush home were: Dick Owen of The Dalles, Preston Wilkens of McDoel, Calif., George Knox and John Smith. Mrs. Albert Demaris and chil dren left last Thursday for Sho shone, Ida., where they will visit friends and relatives. Mrs. De maris' mother, Mrs. R. E. Hewitt Sr., who had spent a week in Sis ters visiting her children, accom panied Mrs. Demaris to her home In bhoshone. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Demaris also accompanied them. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Boyd of Rose burg are visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Casey. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Borton of Walla Walla came here Friday to spend a few days visiting at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Drury. Mr. and Mrs. Guy McLoughlin and Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Smith of Sweet Home picnicked and fished bunday at Paulina lake. i Miss Georgia Korish of Port-' land is visiting at the home of her j brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. j Wayne Korish at Camp Sherman. Blaine Carrol of Portland spent the week end visiting at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Carrol. Miss Joy Kent of Klamath Falls visited last Thursday at the Guy McLoughlin home. The Sisters F. L. Girls' club met in a Joint meeting with the Redmond F. I Girls' club at the Peterson Rock gardens Monday evening. August 8. The state president, Mary Boyle, of New port, was guest of honor at the meeting. The girls enjoyed a wiener roast and outing. Those who attended from Sisters were Mrs. Don Wyatt, Mrs. Bob Mor ris, Mrs. Guy Pattersen. Mrs. Homer Shaw. Mrs. Willard Cyrus and Mrs, George Meyers. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Casey and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Boyd of Roseburg attended the rodeo in Prmeville Sunday. The Ladies council of the Sis ters Church of Christ met last Tuesdav at the home of Mrs. Clyde Bush. Mrs. Isobelle Soren- sen, president, conducted the meeting and Mrs. Clarence Sunk ler had charge of the devotions. After the business meeting the hostess and co-hostess. Mrs. Jerry Bensen, served refreshments. Mrs. Bush was surprised with a large birthday cake in honor of her birthdav. Those present were: Mrs. P. Huntington, Mrs. Clarence Sunkler, Mrs. Buster Philips and children. Mrs. Jesse Smalley, Mrs. Louella Hutchinson. Mrs. Isobelle Sorensen, Mrs. Helen Benson. Mrs. Ethel Hitchcock. Mrs. Clyde Bush. Mrs. Harvey Brandon and daughter and Marjory Bush. Mrs. Bob Dodd entertained with a birthday party in honor of her daughter, Vicky Lou's, third birth day anniversary last Friday aft ernoon. Vicky's little guests wort taken to Scout lake by Mrs. Dodd and their parents where they en joyed sw imming and games. Re freshments of ice cream and cake and punch were served by the hostess. Vicky received ninny gifts, Aliout 28 children wore present. Out-of-town guests in cluded Mrs. Forest Yeomen nml daughter, Diane, and Mi-s. Clifford Rlnnn and twins, Sherry and Jer ry, all ol uenit. The next social mooting of the V.F.W. auxiliary will lx held at the home of Mrs. Sterling May on August in, at o p.m. Mr. and Mrs. II. F. Fuller of McMinnvlllo are visiting at the name ot Mrs. isooeiie sorenson. They also will visit friends in Red mond, Prineville and Madras. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Smulloy left Monday for Illinois where they will make an extended visit with friends and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Luckenbill are stay ing at the Sisters hotel while the Smalleys are gone. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Edgington and son. Jess and Dick Walters, were among those from Sisters who attended the program for the dedication of the owning of the North Santiam highway on Sun day. Dick Walters was the offi cial delegate sent by the Sisters chamber of commerce. A large group of the members of the Sisters Church of Christ at tended the young people's meet ing and evangelistic services at the Redmond Church of Christ Sunday evening. After the church services, baptismal services wore held and four Sisters-hovs wore baptized. The boys were Bobbv McKenzie, Dunne "Ullmnn, David Gerardo and Gary Tittle. Construction work has been started on the new grade school building. Mrs. Mildred Rief entertained with a birthday party Tuesdav afternoon, August 9, at her home in honor of her daughter, Lind-i ;Jo's seventh birthday annlver .sjiry.
