The applications of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Naff of Redmond were re ceived for membership. A discussion was held In re gard to the practice of some peo ple dumping rubbish along the state highway and other public roads in the community. The group went on record as opiwslng this practice, especially the road to the cemetery, as this is getting j to be a very unsightly place. Kollowlne the business meeting : a package wrapping stunt with Bill Rachor and Mrs. Glenn Rit tcr opposing Myron Blackwell and Mrs. Orlo Flock, was won by the former team. Other numbers on the program consisted of a short skit by Luke Reif and Mel vln Foster and one by M r s. Charles Covey and Sidney Carter; a reading. "Now Is the Time." by Mrs. Ira Carter; songs. "Buttons and Bows." and "Far Away Places." by Sidney Carter, and the songs "With a Song in My Heart" and "April Showers," by Jack Naff. Ardie Reif accompan ied by singers at the piano. A so cial hour around the table con cluded the evening. The next grange meeting will be held on August 19. Mr. and Mrs. Myron Blackwell were Thursday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Herbison and family, in Red mond. Robert Blackwell returned home with his parents In the af ternoon, after spending two days at the Herbison home. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Covey had as their dinner guests on Tuesday Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Herbison and family, of Red mond, and Robert Blackwell. Covey took his guests for an air plane ride in the afternoon. Donald Schmeiser of Oregon City came here last week to spend three weeks with his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Ritter and daughter. Donna Mae Pauls and Mrs. B. L. Ellis were callers last Sun day afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Carter. Sidney Car ter and Jeanette Northcutt ac companied them for a horseback ride in the afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Moore and children accompanied by her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Miller of Prineville. spent last Sunday picking wild blackberries on the North Santiam. F. X. Dompier and son, Thomas, of Oakridge, made a business trip to the community on Thur day and returned Friday. They were over-night guests at the Louis Flock home. Glenn Kissler accompanied by his brother. Clarence, of Prine ville. returned Thursday from Portland where they had gone a few days previous for some new I farm machinery. -Mrs. Clarence Kissler and son. Ronnie, remain ed at the Glenn Kissler home dur ing her husband's absence. The Busy Stitchers 4-H club met with their leader. Mrs. T. C. I Haynes. Wednesday afternoon. : and worked on their fair exhibits. : Members of the Garden club met at the school Wednesday af-; temoon with Mrs. Larry Timmer- i man as hostess and arranged tables and made final plans for i the annual flower show that was held there on Thursday after noon. The next regular meeting I will be with Mrs. Tim Adams on September 8. i Mrs. Charles Swendig and j daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Myron Black well, and son, Robert. Mr. and Mrs. George Boak went to Loon lake, near Reeds port. Thursday and returned home Friday. Edith Taylor of Prineville spent from Friday until Sunday with her mother. Mrs. Mary McDaniel. Mrs, P. It. Spillman and son. Paul, went to Albany last Satur day to visit Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Roth. On Sunday they attended a family clan picnic near Jeffer son, on the Santiam river. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Estos of Astoria spent the week end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Spillman. Mrs. J. C. Minson entertained at a birthday party on July 23. honoring her grandson. Douglas Minson, of Terrebonne. Those present included Mrs. Jack Vice and two children from Prineville: Mrs. Dick Minson and children of Terrebonne. Mrs. Charles Minson and daughter. Susan, and Mrs. Ralph Gilchrist and son. Bobby. Mrs. C. C. Vice was hostess to the Tuesday Bridge club last week. Mrs. Ed Mollman of Terre bonne and Mrs. Porter Sprague were substitutes. There will be no more meetings of the club un til November. Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Vice accom panied by his mother, Mrs. E. E. Vice, and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Smith and family of Bend went to Todd lake on Thursday where they picnicked and fished. Mr. and- Mrs. C. C. Vice were Saturday evening dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Mollman of Terrebonne. Barbara and Fred Webb returned Jioi .with their grandparents, affel having visited at the Mollman home since Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Flock' and Mr. and Mrs. Orlo Flock and fam ily made the trip to Cottage , Grove and back Sunday. They attended a Flock family reunion j while there. The FFA projects of James Heston, Albert Covev, LcRoy Kissler, Jack McCaffery. Charles I Nelson, Roe and Elmer McDaniel , and Darrell Dickson were visited Saturday when the tour was made in this community. Dinner was served at the Dickson home and about 40 persons were present. I Mrs. Mayme Heston was host j ess to the Relative Bridge club luesday evening. Some ot the winners at the flower show Thursday afternoon included Mrs. Jack Shumway, first, and Mrs. Tillman Haynes, second; arrangements, Mrs. Mayme Heston first and Mrs. Nina Elliott second. Mrs. Tim Adams won the first for the most outstanding display, 'which con sisted of a shaded yellow bouquet. The Sorosis club took first on its card table display. A good crowd attended during the afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bus,sett and children returned last 'Monday from a week's vacation spent at the coast and Breitenbush. Mr. and Mrs. James Kelly of Portland called at the homes of Mrs. E. A. Bussett and Lloyd Bus sett on Tuesday morning. Mrs. Kelly was formerly Miss Harriett Wilcox, a former resident here. Mrs. Virgil Langtry and two children, of Portland, arrived Fri day by plane to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Cronin, and family.
