Girls' Mayday
" There will be a girls' playday
on Wednesday, July 13, from 10
in the morning until 2 in the aft
ernoon on the Bend high school
field. All girls of all ages are in
vited to attend, and there will be
games and contests for everyone.

There will be a series of mod
ern dancing classes, beginning the

recreation department, in the Al

New Furniture
Store to Open
..Opening of the Greenwood
Furniture Co., in a new building
at . 24 Greenwopd, has been set
for Monday, July 11, Paul
Schnur, who will operate the
new store, announced today. Es
pecially constructed for furniture
display, the building has a 50
foot frontage on Greenwood ave
nue and is 50 feet deep. Provis
ions have been made for the ad
dition of another 50-foot unit
when this addition is needed. The
new store has a plate glass
front, providing for an extra
large window display.
Stock has arrived for the new
store and is now being arranged
for the Monday opening.
Schnur, who, with his wife,
Anna, will operate the store, is
an oldtlme resident of Bend, who
recently returned after spending
20 years .in California. Schnur
first came to central Oregon in
1913 with his parents, the late
Mr. and Mrs. Matt Schnur. As
a young man, Schnur was a tele
graph operator for The Journal,
In Portland, and was The Bulle-,
tin's telegraph operator in 1926,
before the Installation of tele
types. ,
The building in which the new
store will, open was constructed
in the present season.

Professional Instructors will be
provided, and there is a charge of
$1.50 for 12 lessons. Registration
is now open in the recreation of'
