Mrs. Huebler said Engel dis appeared six days after they eloped to Reno, when "I out smarted him." "He didn't get any of my mon ; ey and we didn't live as man and. wife," Mrs. Huebler said. , Mrs. Huebler, and her pretty 26-year-old daughter, Myriam Pa tricia Maltby, said Engel first ap peared on their horizon six months ago. . Wined and Dined Using the name "Paul C. Bonds," Engel wined and dined ." Mrs. Huebler, whom he affection ately called "Little Mama," and her daughter, whom he called "Venus" or "Baby," Mrs. Hueb ler said. "He seemed, if you'll pardon the expression, to be well heeled." - Mrs. Huebler's daughter said she began to suspect Engel was . out to get her mother's money when she found out a swanky hotel, where "Bond claimed to have a suite, had never heard of him. Mrs. Huebler said she refused to dispose of her San Francisco property after their marriage and" Engel disappeared a few days after their elopment. "I certainly hope he's caught," Mrs. Huebler said, "because I feel sorry for all these other women. . "We now call him 'Sing Sing',". Mrs. Huebler's daughter said. , Police said Engel, a man who could pass for SO, has been en gaged in separating women from their money for 40 years. He is wanted; both in New York and Chicago, local authorities said. Lamb of Pleasant Ridge be came the bride of Loyal Gene Garboden, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Garboden of Pleasant Ridge Sunday, June 19 at 1:30 p. m. Reverend D. L. Penhollow per formed the ceremony in the Red mond First Christian church. So loist was Gerald Garboden, who sang "Because" and "Through The Years". Mrs, James F. Jewel accompanied him and played Mendelssohn's wedding march. Decorations at the church were gladioli and pink sweet Williams in baskets, with palm and candel abra. Mrs. Carl Gillenvate, Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Olson and Mrs. Shorty Wilcox, arranged the dec orations. The bride designed her wedding gown, of white satin, with veil. She carried a boquet of pink de light roses with gladioli. Miss Margaret Conklin was maid of honor. She wore a taffeta gown of orchid and carried a bo quet of orchid daisies. The bride's sisters, Misses Marlene and Leata Lamb, were brides maids, Mar lene in yellow taffeta, carried blue "Ester Reed" daisies and Leata wore pink taffeta and car ried a bouquet of yellow daisies. Mareit and Edith Petersen were flower girls dressed in long pink and blue gowns. Best man was Gerald Garbod en, brother of the groom, and ushers were Raymond Garboden, another brother and Frank Curtis of Sisters, cousin of the bride. Miss Ruth Dixson had charge of the euest book. Mrs. M. T. Bums of Junction City, aunt of the bride served the wedding caKe at the reception. Assisting her were Mrs. James Jewel and Mrs. Jess Lynam, Mrs. W. R. Lamb of Areata, Calif., and Mrs. J. D. Fountain of Elmira, both aunts of the bride, poured. Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Allen and daugh ters, Katherlne and Helen, and Mr. and Mrs. M. T. Burns of Junc tion City; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Burnett and daughters, Alice Fave and Judy and son, Gregory; Melford Allen, Sara Allen, San dra Davis, Mildred Davis, Bar bara Garboden. Gayle Davis, M. Z. Allen, Charley W. Davis, Clyde Lamb and Mrs. Avon Inman, all of Eugene; Jackie Nesbitt of Portland;. Gene Carpenter of Mo lalla; Richard Davis and Mr. and Mrs. Francis Davis of Spring field; Mrs. Mitchell Fox and daughter, Carol of Fall Creek; Mr. and Mrs. Grover C. Curtiss of Cecil; Mr. and Mrs. J. The bride and groom left fol lowing the wedding for Vancouv er, B C. The bride wore a beige Suit with green accessories and a corsage of baby gladioli. The bride was graduated witn the 1949 class of Redmond high school. i Garboden was a graduate ot Snrlnufleld hich school and serv ed In the navy. He is employed at Al Epperi-)ughs sneii service station in Redmond. Bend Recreation Schedule By Dave Howard Director of Hcereatlon Junior Olympics . The Bend Junior Olympics will be held Saturday, June 25, at 1 o'clock on the bend high school field. The events to be held are: The running broad Jump, the run ning high jump, the Softball throw, tne standing broad jump, the 8 and 12 lb. snot put, the 50 yard dash, the 75 yard dash, the 100 vard dash, the 220 yard dash, the 440 yard run, the 880 yard run and the mile run. The age groups are 12 to 13, 14 to 15, and 16 to 17, for botn boys and gins. The winners will be giyen an op portunity to participate In the Oregon Junior Olympics held in Poruand on August 6. Swimming The municipal swimming pool will open Saturday at 1:30. Swim ming instruction, sponsored by the Red Cross and the recreation department will start on July 11. Those wishing this instruction may register at the Red Cross office, Harmon and Allen play grounds, or the recreation office. the classes ottered are lor be ginners, intermediates, swimmers, and in junior and senior life sav ing, ihe minimum age accepted for instruction is 7 years'. There will be instruction offered to adults In the early evening. Sea- son tickets can be bought at the city hall or at the municipal pool as soon as it is open. Prices are $4.80 for family season tickets $2.40 lor individual season tickets. - Condon Ignores Chance to Testify Washington, June 24 IP House spy hunters said today that Dr. Edward U. Condon has Ignored their invitation to answer under oath charges that he Is an atomic security risk. Rep. Richard M. Nixon, R., Calif., said that a "reasonable time" has elapsed since the house un-American activities committee extended the Invitation. It offered 10 days ago to hold a hearing at any date requested by Condon, chief of the U. S. bureau of standards. "The deadline, in my opinion, has expired," Nixon said. "He has had plenty of time to take the initiative in this matter and I think it's time now for the com mittee to act." Rodeo Rider ; Kicked by Horse Prineville, June 24 Earl Hoppes, 23, who is well known on rodeo circuits of the Pacific north west, was recovering yesterday at the home of Ms parents, Mr. ana Mrs. Otto N. Hoppes of Prineville, from painful injuries suffered Wednesday when he was kicked in the face by a horse. His nose was broken. The accident oc curred at the ZX ranch of the Silver Jake district near Paisley, where Hoppes is spending the summer. The father of young Hoppes, who is president of the Central Oregon chamber of commerce, motored to Paisley Wednesday and brought his son here for treatment. He -plans on return ing to Paisley Sunday. No Trace Found Of J. E. Harris . The disappearance of Joseph E. Harris, 45, resident of Stayton, at Suttle lake just short of a month ago. still remains unsolv ed, but it was learned today the case is still under investigation by state police. Harris was reported to have drowned at Suttle lake, but no trace of the body ever has been found, despite the fact the lake has been closely watched every day since May 26, when Harris disappeared. Harris was last seen upright in his life preserver in Suttle lake, according to information given state police. He fell into the wa ter after a boat in which he and his wife were fishing capsized. Mrs. Harris made her way to shore, hanging on to the over turned boat. Possibility that Harris, who had been reported suffering from a heart ailment, might have reached shore and wandered into the woods in a dazed condiiton, was considered when the investi gation, of the reported drowning was started. , , , ; MOKE POLIO REPORTED San Angelo.
