Penhollow was hostess to the Women's council at the home of her mother, Mi's. E E Burgess ot Redmond, Friday aft ernoon. Mrs. Ray Naff Mrs Paul Griffith and Mrs. Burgess were guests In attendance. Four teen members were present. Plans were made for refreshments for the children during the daliy va cation Bible school, which will be held here beginning June 20 and continuing through June 24, with a picnic to be held on Saturday afternoon. The next meeting will be with Mrs. J. vy. Cooper on June 24. Mrs. S. A. Blackwell and daugh ter, Mrs. Gene Blalock, and two children, all of Lebanon, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Blackwell and son, of Bend, visited Wednesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Myron Blackwell and son. The, .Lebanon women are the meirs mother and sister. On Thursday the Powell Butte Black wells spent the day In Bend with their relatives. Mrs. Luke Reif was hostess to the Home Economics club Wed nesday afternoon when 10 mem bers and Mrs. Neil Holdren, as a guest, were present. The club and the grange have taken up the project oi replacing all the old laded and destroyed markers of graves in the local cemeterv. There will be two maps of the piois ana one will be recorded in the courthouse in Prinevllle, while the other will be kept in the community for anyone ' to see. Anyone having any information about old graves is being asked to notify Melvin Foster or Mrs. Rush Duncan, and they will see that the graves are properly marked. The next meeting of the club will be with Mrs. Sam Ritter, on July 13. Mrs. A. V. Stevens of Redmond was hostess to the Tuesday Bridge club last week. Mi s. Roy Roberts and Mrs. H. W. Steelhammer were guests. The next meeting will be with Mrs. E. H. Stewart in Redmond, June 21. Calvin Brockett returned this week from Sebastopol, Calif., last week after being there since Feb ruary. Mrs. Harry Carlson and children left Thursday for Portland to at tend the Rose festival. They planned to return early this week. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Stout and children came here last Sunday from Montana to visit her sister, Mrs. Harry Carlson, and family. Mr. and Mrs. RalDh Gilchrist and son, Bobby, spent last week end at Roberts, visiting her par- cms, ivir. ana Mrs. ueorge wck man. Mr. and Mrs. Orvel Williams and family returned last week from Oklahoma and Kansas, where they had been visiting for a month. Mr. and Mrs. Ira Carter and son, Sidney, and Clarence Even- son accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. i-an Kiigore and son, Harold, of Redmond picnicked last Sunday at the Peterson rock gardens. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Harns of Longview, Wash., came here Mon day to visit his brother and sis ter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Harns, for a few days. Jesse Minson accompanied Asa Battles of Prineville to Burns on Wednesday. They attended a county commissioners' meeting. They returned on Thursday eve ning. Mr. and Mrs. Merton Basey and daughters, Eileen and Joyce, left early last week for Durango, Colo., to visit relatives. F. F. Angelo and L. M. Fuller of Eugene were Thursday morn ing business callers at the Myron Blackwell home. Mr. and Mrs. Albln Cooper of Detroit spent last week end vis iting his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Cooper. Mrs. Bertha Young and daugh ter and son and wife of Salem were recent visitors at the J. W. Cooper home. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Enright of Gilchrist returned to their home last Monday after spending a week visiting Mr. and Mrs. Neil Holdren. Oscar Jacobson of Alfalfa and his mother and sister, from Ore gon City, were Wednesday eve ning callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Cooper. On Thursday, June 2, R. F. Dun can purchased a seven-week-old pig at Cloverdale and brought it home and put it in a pen. He celled his wife out to see the animal but when she got there the pig decided to go elsewhere. Mr. and Mrs. Duncan chased it until they could see. no longer, but finally had to give up the chase until the next day. On Sunday morning it showed up at the Charles Covey ranch and was again placed in a pen that every one was sure it could not escape from. Duncan was notified and got there just to find that his little pig again had taken to the wilds. They tracked him up the canal toward the Jack Shumway place, but to date he has not been found. Mr. and Mrs. Claud Brown of Nyssa and Mrs. Howard Calkins and children visited Tuesday aft ernoon with Mr. and Mrs. Sam Ritter. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Martin and family of the Crooked River ranch spent last Sunday at the home of her brother, Homer Jones, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Rush Duncan took some ice cream and cake Tuesday evening and called on Mrs. Maxwell, in honor of her 83rd birthday anniversary. Laura Marshall returned Thins day evening from Sutherlin, where she had been visiting friends for the past 10 days. Ten members and five guests attended the 1 o'clock luncheon for the Sorosis club at the home of Mrs. Guy Sears in Bend on Wednesday. Members were Mrs. A. V. Stevens. Mrs. E. H. Stewart, Mrs. S. D. Mr. and Mrs. Luke Reif left Saturday morning for Molalla where they were over-night guests of their son, Raymond, and fam ily. They were joined there by Mrs. Dick Lamb and daughter of Portland and went on to Coos Bay Sunday to attend state grange as representatives of Crook Pomona. Mrs. Lamb and daughter spent the week in Coquille with her grand mother. Mr. and Mrs. Roselle of Port land came here Tuesday and re mained over night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Haynes. They returned Wednesday. Jim Hall, of Sacramento, is here visiting his sister, Mrs. Eve lyn Mickel, who is here from Montana, and another sister, Mrs. Malcolm McDonald, and family. Mrs. T. C. Haynes and children accompanded by her mother, Mrs. Margaret Sleasman of Redmond, left Wednesday morning for Port land and plan to go on to the coast before returning in about a week.
