University officials disclosed Saturday night that the oath will te made a part of all contracts with the 4,000 faculty members and administrators. Dr. George A. He exolained K 1.J l - in Riinnlemont that- nath "We don't like the idea of oaths," he said, "but in the cold war hysteria we are facing some thing had to be done. This more explicit oath will give, if needed, greater public assurance of the attitude the university has always had." Pledge Quoted The pledge says: "I do not believe in and am not a member nor do I support any party or organization that be lieves in, advocates or teaches the overthrow of the United States government by force or by any illegal, unconstitutional methods." Two professors indicated there might be some opposition from the faculty. Robert G. Gordon, professor of economics, said he understood a number of faculty members were disturbed about the oath and its implications. Earl R. Malcolm returned Saturday aft er a fiveday flying trip to the mainland for consultation with his government superiors. He said he had several ideas for set tlement, some of which may be used in renewed peace efforts. Henry Schmidt, CIO strike leader, declared there would be no further unloading of food and cattle feed from ships presently in Honolulu, because of the em ployers' refusal to accept the un ion peace bid. He emphasized, however, that the union would handle formally designated relief cargoes now en route, or to be sent from the Pa cific coast. This is in accordance with the agreement arrived at jointly with the island's emer gency food committee and em ployers. Russell Starr, chairman of the Even strikebound stevedore com. panies, made the rejection. He said the offer had "too many strings attached." Another indus try session to consider the union offer was scheduled for today, but Starr said "I don't think we'll meet with .the union on that plane." He added 'that yesterday's re jection would probably stand un less "there was something in the plan we missed." ' The Boulder City police depart ment assigned two detectives full time to aid county officials in their hunt for the murderer. All known sex offenders and criminals were being questioned systematically. The campus was deserted to day. More than 8.000 students hurried home for term-end vaca tions over the week end. But the university still required the few remaining students to double-date when they went out, to prevent the unknown killer from striking again. The school's commencement ex ercises were held today in an at mosphere of fear and gloom. Spore was clubbed to death Thursday evening. The killer struck first at Miss Weaver, sneaking up behind the couple to hit her several times with a length of pipe or metal rod. See lteseinhlunee. Spore told Miss Weaver to run, then turned toward the "tall and thin" killer and bore the brunt of his attack although his leg was ertcased in a heavy plaster cast. Miss Weaver ran for help. Statement Made Condon last night issued his second public statement In 48 hours, assailing Hoover and the FBI for a report which said Mrs. Condon had arranged a "contact" for a suspected Soviet agent. "I do not choose to accept 'no comment' as an answer," he said In reference to the FBI response to his earlier , demand for an apology. "This is an issue of the utmost importance not only for my wife or myself, but for all Americans, which strikes to the very heart of the general procedures of the FBI," said Condon.
