X-Ray Canvass Planned Here In preparation for the annual chest X-ray survey to be held in June, a house-to-house canvass, designed to acquaint residents with the program, will be held next week in Bend, Mrs. A. E. Stevens, executive secretary of the Deschutes County Public Health association, announced to day. Volunteers will call in all sections of the city, with litera ture and information about the right to control tuberculosis, she said. They will also take regis trationsfor the free X-ray service. The mobile X-ray unit will be in Redmond June -7, and in Bend June 8-11. C. R. Bradford, consultant for the X-ray service, from the Ore gon Tuberculosis and Health as sociation, was In Bend Thursday to help in planning the pre-survey canvass. The contract will Include the grading and surfacing of a north south runway, 75 feet wide and 3800 feet long, and also the sur face of taxi wings and airport apron. Fencing and other work also will be asked in the contract. En gineering work for the project was done by the Oregon state board of aeronautics. Service Clubs In Joint Session Redmond, May 14 (Special) - Jlm Short, representative, was guest speaker at a joint session of Redmond service clubs Wed nesday at 7 p.m. at the hotel ban quet room. Mr. ana Mrs. vai Meyers, Mar lon Coyner, Redmond's mayor, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Endlcott, rep resenting Jaycees and Lions, Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Smith, dele gates of Kiwanls, Mr. and Mrs. Emery Johnston, highway de partment, Ken Munkres, Toast masters, were special guests. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Carpenter and Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Thomp son were among the guests. Car penter was in charge of the pro gram and Thompson represented the chambers of commerce which he serves as president. More than a hundred guests were served. Short divided his talk Into topics.
