At Redmond
"Stipe Fun Show," a 15-mlnute
program of Informal talks, gags,
and give-aways, with audience
participation, will be presented
over KBND every Monday, Wed
nesday and Friday at 2:45 p.m.,
beginning next week, under the
sponsorship of the Stipe-Redmond
Furniture store.
. For each broadcast specific top
' les such as "Should husbands help
their wives with the housework?"
will be opened for discussion to
members of the store audience.
Also participants will be asked
to relate to the radio listeners
their most embarrassing mo
ments, secret ambitions anu great
est surprises."
No Rehearsals
The commercials are ' another
feature of the program. For
these, Ed Hamm, store manager
and program emcee, will request
some member of the audience to
pick out a specific item of furni
ture in the store and . attempt to
make a sale to him. - He plans to
ask the questions and make the
remarks of a typical customer
listening t& a sales talk, Hamm,
who has never before spoken Into
a radio mike or acted as master
of ceremonies on a show, admits
that he will be as much an ama
teur on the program as any of the
participants might be. he added
that the program would be con
ducted informally and with no
script, ' . , .
One prize each broadcast day
will be awarded to a radio listen
er tuned in on the program.
Phone calls will be placed in the
course of the show to determine
the winners. . .
The program will be broadcast
directly from the Stipe-Redmond
furniture store. Plans have been
made to seat approximately 20
persons at the store studio. Be
cause of the limited seating ca
pacity persons desiring to attend
-the show will have to make reser
vations in advance either by writ
ing or obtaining them in person
at tne store. -

Water Reservoir
Madras, May 12 -a Although a
decision was not reached on a
source of supply from which to
keep it filled, the Madras city
council has voted for construction
xif a 1,000,000-gallon reservoir on
a site overlooking the city at its
southwest edge, on the old Dlzney
place now owned by Ben. John
ston. The estimated cost Of the
reservoir and a main connecting
It with the municipal system-was
land, member of a firm of Corval
placed at $77,824 by James How
lis consulting engineers. It is pro
posed to submit at a special elec
tion a bond issue for financing the
proposed new reservoir.
.' Currently Madras Is maintain
ing its municipal water system
through ;a surplus from a well
owned by the Union Pacific rail
road and used to service locomo
tives ot, the Central Oregon rail
line. It also buys wholesale quan
tities of Opal springs water from
the Deschutes Valley water dis
trict, an organization supplying
domestic water to rural Jefferson
county and the towns of Metolius
and Culver.
The city has miulo futile at
tempts to obtain a water supply
from a well, stinted last year at
the southeast cdne of town. Work
was resumed on the bore this
spring and the well has been
drilled to a depth in excess of 750
feet.

47 per cent of this traffic.

Sedell said the percentage
from Bend is rather low, in view
of respective populations in the
various mldstate communities.
However, he said, the Bend per
centage is showing an increase.
The heaviest traffic destination
has been Portland, followed by
Seattle, San Francisco and points
east. Sedell said the half-fare
