Crawford
(Continued from Page 1) '
Lepescu had applied for a per
mit to operate an amphibian
plane from the lake, as a terminal '
of a line that was to bring sports
men from San Francisco. The for
esters had met the pilot at the
lake to go over the plans, then
accepted an Invitation from Lep
escu for a flight over the forest.
No Broken Bones
Only slightly Injured, Bottcher
was able to be around town today,
but Crawford and Cory will be
kept under observation In the
hospital lor several days. Their
attending physician said they ap
peared to be getting along well.
Neither of the men suffered
broken bones.
Crawford believes that he and
his fellow foresters would have
been carried to their death In the
plane, with its water tight com
partments, u it had not been split
open by the crash into the lake.
Cory was carried out ot the plane
by the inrush of water as the am
phibian turned over. Crawford,
knocked out by the crash, was
partly carried out of the plane in
tne wreckage oi the seat. Bottcher
pulled Crawford up on the fuse
lage. ...
