Gets High Rating
Redmond, April 21 "All-Amor-lean"
is the honor ratine given the
Redmond union high school stu
dent newspaper for the first se
mester by. the National Scholastic
Press association. Only 10 of the
high school papers in the United
States submitted in the same
group as Panther 'Scratches, Red
mond high's paper, received the
All-American rating, highest pos
sible achievement in this national
critical service.

Scratches and a member of Quill
and Scroll, national honorary for
nign school journalists. Mrs. Delia
Nunce, journalism instructor at

"The Panther Scratches," wrote
the Judge In the National Scho
lastic Press association scorebook,
"is a paper to which Redmond stu
dents and citizens can point with
pride. You've put a lot of work
and ability Into It and you've
produced a good paper. It is a
good testimony to the staff and
faculty who have been active
workers on the paper." '
First class rating was awarded
the 194S Panther Scratches. Sec
ond semester papers for this year
wllll be submittal for critical rat
ing in May. -
Excellent ratings were given on
news values and sources, news
writing and editing, and depart
ment pages and special features
and makeup. Headlines rated a
superior. The paper Is edited by
25 students enrolled in a Journal

Prineville, April 21 (Special)
The wedding of Larry Pagter, Jr.,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Pagter,
of Portland, and Miss Virginia
Bruckert, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Bruckert, of Eugene, was
solemnized Saturday evening in
the university city.at St. Mary's
Episcopal church. The bride
groom is engaged in timber man
agement work as a member of the
headquarters staff of the Ochoco
national forest here. His father
is a timber management author
ity at the regional forest office in
Portland. The bride's father Is
supervisor of the Willamette na
tional forest.
Immediately following the wed
ding Mr. and Mrs. Pagter left for
San Francisco on a honeymoon.
He will return here Monday, and
Mrs. Pagter, who now teaches at
Springdale, will Join him when
the spring school term ends.

'Jam Session'
To Be Friday
The second annual "Joint jam
session" for all musicians of local
No. 700, A. F. of L., will be Friday
evening, April 22, beginning at
8 p.m. in Norway hall. According
to those in charge, plans are com
plete for an evening of gala fun.
Entertainment will Include spe
cialty acts, motion pictures, re
freshments and dancing.
Since membership in the musi
cians' local is drawn from several
counties in the mid-state area,
the largest number of orchestras
ever assembled for one occasion
In Central Oregon will take part
in the event.
Larry Brunch, secretary, is in
general charge of arrangements,
assisted by a committee that in
cludes Fred Dallas, Bud Russell,
Helen Gant and Lois Gumpert.
