The home economics club of the
Pine Forest grange will prepare
the luncheon, and members of the
Boyd Acres extension unit will act
as ' hostesses. Program covers
have been, designed by the Glen
Vista unit, and the Eastern Star
unit is in charge of decorations.
Mrs. H. P. Eby of Redmond,
chairman of the county commit
tee, will preside.
Exhibits will cover a wide
range of subjects, showing work
in various phases of the extension
program. Redmond. Terebonne
and Boyd Acres units will col
laborate on a display themed on
the "blouse in a dav" protect.

gon, at a dinner meeting Tuesday
evening at the Presbyterian
church. Bishop Barton showed
colored pictures of the meeting of
the 'Work! Ctmnoil of Churches.
Which . he attended last year In
England.
Mr. George Marshall was
chairman of, the committee who
prepared and served the dinner.

For Stagette
At BPOE Hall
The "stagette" for Ladies, of
the Elks, to be held Saturday
night, April 23, at the BPOE hall,
promises to be one of the out
standing events In the history of
the Bend women's organization.
The affair fs scheduled to start
at 8 p.m., with a style show by
Mannheimers set for 8:30, an im
ported floor show to be at 9:30
p.m., and a supper to be served
at midnight. Interspersing these
events will be special entertain
ment by members of the local
organization, and a variety of
games.

ABANDONED WELL CAPPED
Spokane, Wash., April 21 IH
An abandoned well, 43 feet deep,
was capped today because a Cali
fornia 1 couple "couldn't sleep"
knowing it was uncovered.
Sheriff Ralph M. Smith said
Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Fromviller
mailed a map from their home in
Bell Garden, Cal., showing the
location of the abandoned well
they discovered years ago "while
living at Opportunity, Wash., near
here.
Deputies said the well was "ex
tremely dangerous." It had an
eight foot mouth and water could
be seen at the bottom. No fence
or Covering protected it.
CHILD FOUND ALIVE
Clalrfield, Tenn., April 21 Ui
A seven-year-old girl, lost in ra-
vlnc-laced mountain country since
Tuesday night, was found alive
and "in good condition" today by
a search party of coal miners.
Blue-eyed Wanda Moore was
discovered by Hubert Parrott and
Kenney Huddleston, two coal min
ers employed by the company
where the child's father worked.
The mining company had ceas
ed all operations to permit work
ers to join In the search. A posse
of over 1,000 miners and moun
taineers had scoured the mountain
country, using bloodhounds, since
the little girl was first reported
missing on Tuesday afternoon.
