Westfall, Tri County health department sanf tarian. Pythian Degree Teams to Compete Knights of Pythias degree teams from three lodges. Prine- ville, Redmond and Bend, will en gage in a contest at a district meeting to be held in Redmond Friday at 8 p.m., officers of the group announced today. The rank of knight will be conferred by each of the participating degree teams. Judges for the contest will be Walter Gleeson, Portland, grand secretary, and O. P. Lambourn, Knights of Pythias field represen tative for Oregon. Members of the Bend contest team are to meet at the office of Dr. R. D. Mr, Van Tassel was a native of Michigan, and was born July 12, 1877. He had lived in the Estacada community for the past 28 years. A Central Oregon locality, old timers recall, was named for a member of the Van Tassel family. This is Vanora, near the Des chutes river west of Madras. It was named for Ora Van Tassel, with "Vim" and "Ora" worked Into a place name. The town of Vanora was on the Oregon Trunk railway, and the Vanora postof flee was established in 1911. John T. Dlzney was the first of four postmasters.
