Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific

Stearns & Co., of plans to make
a secondary offering of 225,000
shares of the issue. The listed
common dropped more than a
point on the news, prompting the
brokerage firms to abandon their
plans.
At the stockholders' meeting
of E. I, Du Pont de Nemours &
Co., Inc., at Wilmington, Del.,
Crawford Greenwalt, president,
said March quarter sales naa
been up 13 per cent over 1948
but that the gain was not up to
expectations. He did not com
ment on March quarter earnings.
