as his bride, Miss Phyllis K.
Swenson, RN, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Howard F. Swenson,
of Manchester.
Rev. Lynn Leavenworth per
formed the double-ring ceremony
Saturday evening, March 5, at
the Merrimack street Baptist
church In Manchester, in a set
ting of potted - palms, ferns and
bouquets of white mixed flowers.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride was attractive
in a white satin colonial gown
fashioned with hoop skirt and
short train. Her finger tip length
veil was draped from a crown
iof seed pearls and she carried
4u cascade arrangement of white
carnations and gardenias.
Mrs. Joseph Reed, sister of the
bride, was matron of honor, In
a pink taffeta colonial gow.n,
and Miss Barbara Stahl, of Bos
ton, and Miss Patricia Thayer,
of Somerville, Mass., classmates
of the bride in training school
were bridesmaids. Both wore
blue taffeta colonial gowns, and
all attendants carried colonial
bouquets.
Joseph Reed, brothor-in-law of
the bride, acted as best man.
Following the ceremony, a re
ception for 150 guests was held
in the vestry. Afterward, the
bridal couple left on a honey
moon trip. They will make their
home in Lakeland, where the
bridegroom will further his stud-
i ies at Florida Southern college,
majoring in citrus, fruit research.

Deschutes national forest. Before
entering college, he served for

high school. Entertainment in
cluded games, a "recitation, "Dad
dies," by Coesta Carter, and a
song, "That Silver-Haired Daddy
I of Mine," sung by Patsy Gholson,

whose wedding has been set for
April 25. She the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs.. Earl Birchard, of 1604
East Third street. Her fiance is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Le
Blanc, of 342 Florida.

Wedding Tonight
A local wedding of more than
casual interest will be solemnized
tonight at 8:30 p. m. at Trinity
Episcopal church, when Miss De
lores Irish and James Fairchild
areunited in marriage. The bride
elect is the daughter of Mrs. Sal
ly Irish, of El Cerrito, Calif., and
Fairchild is the son of Mrs. F. T.
Fairchild, of Bend, and the late
Mr. Fairchild.
Miss Irish, who is office nurse
for Dr. W. O. Courter, completed
her nurses' training at Good Sa
maritan hospital, in Portland.
She is a graduate of University
high school, Eugene.
Fairchild was graduated from
Bend high school and attended
Oregon State college. He is an air
corps veteran.
Bend Study club will meet Mon
day, April 4, for a 1 o'clock lun
cheon at the home of Mrs. T. E. J.
Duffy, 902 Broadway. Mrs. J. C.

Bend matrons and six high school
girls, who will model fashions
from Mannheimers.
The affair will be held in the
Pilot Butte inn Blue room, where
a luncheon will be served at 1:30
p. m. Mrs. Norman Partridge,
general chairman, reported that
only 150 tickets are available, and
urged those who plan to go to ob
tain them without delay.
The show will include costumes
for all occasions, with emphasis
on clothes for the "Easter pa
rade." Models will include the

Extension Units
To Have Meetings
Home economics extension ac
tivities next week will include a
project leader meeting and four
home extension unit meetings,
according to information from
the office of Miss Miriam Shel-
ton, home demonstration agent.
The units will have all-day
meetings beginning at 10:30 p.
m with luncheons at noon. The
subject will be, "Sex Education
in the Home." The schedule of
meetings is as follows: Tuesday;
Redmond unit with Mrs. Ray
Wise; Wednesday, North Unit
group with Mrs. Bill Ryan;
Thursday, Eastern Star with Mrs.
Walter Prichard; Friday, Six Cor

Annual Affair
Trinity Episcopal guild's tra
ditional "Easter Monday" bridge
luncheon Will be April 18 in the
parish hall. The affair is antici
pated annually as a highlight of
the spring. Coming at the end of
Lent, it officially ushers in the
social activities of the new sea
son. The bridge play will follow a 1
o'clock luncheon. As in past
years, there will be tables for
business women who wish to
come for luncheon only, it was
announced.
General chairmen in charge of
arrangements for the party are
Mrs. James Bockius, Mrs, Phil
F. Brogan and Mrs. A. J. Glas
sow. A corps of co workers is
busy with plans for the affair.

any member of the guild, it was

a gaily-decorated cake inscribed
