Gifts Made to Rose Garden Donations for the. Memorial rose garden in Pioneer park were given by Mrs. K. E. uurlck, Mrs. W. E. Sanders and Mrs. H. R. Plumb, at the meeting of the Bend Garden cllub, held Friday alter non at the home of Mrs. Florence Spencer. Mrs. Anton Peterson, who had charge of the program, spoke on "inings to vo in tne uaraen Now.'' Members displayed dish gardens- which- were judged' for points, Mrs. Stanley younger placed first, Mrs. Clifford Kas mussen second, and Mrs. Spencer, third. Mrs. Charles Well, Mrs. Has mussen and Mrs. John Mihelcich were appointed to serve on the nominating committee for the coming election. - Thirteen members were present. Mrs. Stella Nelson conduncted the meeting in the absence of Mrs. Earl Roderick, president. Surprise Party Honors Larsons A surprise party honoring Rev. and Mrs. Vincent Larson on their tenth wedding anniversary was held Sunday evening at Trinity Lutheran church. The Larsons were presented with a gift of silver. Those who have been members 25 years will re ceive special recognltjbn. Six Are Initiated By Rebekah Lodge On Friday Evening Six new members were initiat ed Into the Rebekah lodge, at the regular meeting held trlday at the l.o.o.F. hall. They are Mrs. F. P. Grlndle. Mrs. Earl Fuller, Mrs. Loren Cox, Paul D. Brook ings and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kelley. - Eighty-three Rebekahs, Including members of the local lodge and visitors, attended. Honored as a special guest was Mrs. - Lela Ramsay, of Madras, vice president of the Rebekah as sembly or Oregon, one was ac companied to Bend by her daugh ter, Miss Donna Ramsay. Also receiving a special welcome were Mrs. M. B. Smith, past state pres ident, and Mrs. Fred Gibson, past state treasurer, both of the Asso ciation of Ladles Auxiliaries, Pa triarchs Militant, of Oregon. They were introduced by Miss Kamryn Keney, district deputy president of Bend lodge No. 208. Claude Cook will be instructor and caller. . A series of square dancing par ties, the next four principally for instruction, is being planned. In the picture, left to right, are Mrs. Homer Smith, Bend, secretary-treasurer; Mrs. Chester A. Felt, third vice president, and Mrs. Truxtdn Dalton, second vice president, both of Burns, and Mrs. William G. Wilson, Bend, president, Mrs. Wilson and Mrs. Smith were elected yesterday. Mrs. William G. Wilson, of Bend, was installed as president nf rkp sixth district. Oregon Federation of Women's clubs, in a ceremony conducted yesterday afternoon in the Pine Tav ern dining room, with Mrs. William B. Chahdlee, of Hillsboro, state president, officiating. Ingham, of Portland, junior ex tension chairman, who spoke on activities of the junior clubs. Entertainment at the luncheon included two numbers by the Bend high school trio. Suzanne Gllfil lan, Ann Nelson and Audrey Bai ley, accompanied by Greta Nelson. Their selections were "Easter Pa rade" and "I Don't Know Why." Tables in the dining room were decorated in sage green and des ertgoldj' official colors of; the dis trict. Th'e pine cone, district sym bol, thcrried the decorations. Cones and needles marked the places, and name cards with the same de sign were decorated for the host ess club by Mrs. C. V. Silvis. The morning session in the 11 brarv auditorium featured a ones lion and answer period on aims and purposes of the feneration, with Mrs. Chandlee and Mrs. Ing- nam in cnarge. Mrs. Truxton Dal ton, ot Burns, conducted the meet ing, and Mrs. Al Gulstrom, of Bend, was acting secretary. Mrs. Wlllus E. Shaver played for group singing. Initiation Hold Preceding the convention, the Bend Junior Civic league held a candlelight initiation ceremony Tuesday evening at the Pine Tav ern for 16 new members. With Mrs. Ingham 'acting as senior counsellor, Mrs. Jesse M. Perrine, president ot the local club, con- I ducted the rites, assisted by Mrs. i Homer R. Smith, as acting vice j president. Garrett, who was a member of the staff at radio station KBND for two years, will be associated wltn sta tion KVAis, in me wasningiuii city. Mrs. Garrett is the former Beverly oaer. Most recent of the parties was a small affair Saturday night, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Scott. Besides the Garretts, guests Included Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dickinson and Mr. and Mrs. Marlon Billings. Cards pro vided entertainment for the evening. On Thursday evening. Mr. ana Mrs. A. A. Ries and Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Murphy entertained at their home on Roosevelt avenue, for the pleasure of the Garretts. March 31 (Special) A cake walk, a hat sale and a fish pond provided. entertainment following the regular meeting of the Gilchrist fi'A recently, a program featured folk dances by the sixth trade and readings by Qeorge Iaeger and Gloria Hyatt.
