' J Lakeview came up with the more impressive win, dropping ( Madras 45-30. while Burns ran up 0 score of 35-25 over the Prine ville hoopsters. "' In -the first game between the : Burns Bulldogs and the Prine jville CowtKiys, both teams were TTWow In starting and the lead see f flawed back nnd forth during the 'first quarter, which ended 8-6 In fnvnr of the Bulldogs. Early in the second quarter Prineville surged ahead of the Bulldogs 11-9 by dropping a couple of gift shots through the hoop. 1 Then Benny Jones of the Bull dogs started connecting and push ed his team ahead 21-15 by the end of the first half. Jones was the trouble maker for the Prine ville team all the way. He scored 14 points in the first half and was top man of the evening with 19 points. Pat Gage of Prineville wits .high scorer in the first half for his team with five points, while Gale Billsboro finished high scor er for the Cowboys with 11 points. , - Few points were scored by either team in the third quarter which ended 2617 in the Bulldogs' favor. Burns continued to hold a lead varying from six to 10 points all through the last quarter and ended up with 35 points to the Cowboys' 25. Then Madras bounced back with a couple of points and the lead changed hands several times at the beginning of the first quarter. In the second quarter the Honk ers put on steam and moved ahead of the Buffalos 20-10 in the first few minutes of the second quarter. Madras then closed the gap with a couple of field goals and a gift shot. The half ended with the Honkers leading 2618. Fitzgerald was high point man for the Honkers at the half with 8 points and finished the game with the high point score for his team with 12 points. Corwin for the Buffalos was high scorer for both teams with 15 points. He consistently broke through the Honkers' defense throughout the game for under the basket hook shots which were good for points most of the time. The second half was Lake view's again as the Honkers in creased their lead over the Buf falos. The Madras team lost three players on fouls as they tried to check the Honkers' drive in the third and fourth periods. The third period ended with the Honk ers in the lead 33-23. In the last quarter the Lakeview players rolled along easily as they in creased their lead to 15 points finishing the game 45 to 30 over the Buffalos. The five-man team event will get under way at 7 p.m. Sat urday with a total of 16 teams toeing the line, and doubles nnd singles events will swing into ac tion at 2 p.m. Sunday and continue until late evening.
