Market Irregular,
Action Moderate
New York, Jan. 21 tll'i The
stock market turned irregular to
day in moderately active trading.
Irregularity reflected the re
luctance of Investors or the Wall
street professionals to trade in
any volume pending a start of
congress on the new administra
tion's legislative program.
Some attention was attracted
by the remarks of Irving S. Olds,
board chairman of U.S. Steel
Corp., who said last night lhat
steel industry should be on guard
against attempts ot nationaliza
tion. A favorable item was provided
by a Washington tax expert who
told the American management
association here today that he
foresaw no excess profits tax in
either 19-19 or 1950, nor any In
crease in corporate tax rates be
yond 45 per cent.

KOAD REALLY BURNED UP
Magna, Utah dfi Firemen were
skeptical when someone called
and said a street was on fire. It
was true though. Flames 10 to

from the macadamized roadway.
The department attributed tho
blaze to overflowing gasoline from
somebody's tank.
