Violinist to
Play for Group
Mrs. Fred Jensen, a newcomer
1o Bend from Astoria, will play
several violin selections, as a fea
ture of the program for the
American Legion auxiliary, to

partment, who will also report on
her trip to the national conven
tion in Miami.

The Christmas giving of the
auxiliary will be in the form of

The V.F.W. auxiliary Christmas
party and gift exchange will be
hold Wednesday at 8 p.m., at the
V.F.W. hall on Bond street, with
presents to be brought for "secret
sisters" or for exchange. Small
articles for game prizes would
also he appreciated by the host
esses, it is announced. Hostesses
will be Mrs. Morley Madden and
Mrs. Richard Rowley. Plans for
the V.F.VA family Christmas will
he announced later.

Last Friday
At the close of the regular Re
bekah lodge meriting Friday eve
ning, refreshments were served to
85 people. The tables were beauti
fully decorated with pine boughs
and cones, and red and green
crepe paper streamers.
Initiation was held for Mrs. Ella
Nelson, of Bend, and for Kenneth
Short, F. M. Henderson and C. W.
Mehlenbeck, of Sisters. Members
of the Sisters and Redmond lodg
es made a joint visitation, and
two guests were also present
from Madras.
Announcement was made of
several coming ' events. The
Christmas party, for all Re
bekahs, Odd Fellows, Theta Rho
girls and their families, will be
Tuesday, Dec. 21, at 7:30 p.m. at
the lodge hall. Members whose
children have numbers for the
program were asked to get in
touch with Mrs. Fled Gibson, 211
Georgia, or phone 1095. W. C. Roe
is in charge of the Christmas

short meeting at 7:30 p.m. on the
regular meeting date, Dec. 24.
A New Year's eve party, for all
members of I.O.O.F. groups and
their families and friends, will
follow a 6:30 potluck dinner Dec
ember 31 at the hall. Entertain
ment for the evening will include
dancing, cards and games. .
Joint installation of - Odd Fel
low and Rebekah officers will be
held January 22 at 8 p.m., with
Miss Kathryn Kelley, district dep
uty president, and Paul Crocker,
district deputy grand master, in
charge.

Culver. Dec. 14 (Special) Mrs.
Winifred Osborn has been elected
noble grand for the new term by
members of Eatoha lodge of Re
bekahs. Other officers named are:
Mrs. Howard Campbell, vice
grand; Mrs. K. F. Gregg, treas
urer; Mrs. Morris Beckwith, re
cording secretary; and Mrs. L. D.
McDowell, financial secretary. ;
It was announced that the
lodge's Triple Link club will hold
its Christmas party and election
on the afternoon of Tuesday, De
cember 21, at the home of Mrs.
L M. Homey.
Baptist Women's union will hold
a Christmas party Thursday at 2
p.m. at the home of Mrs. A. C.
Nelson, 645 Broadway, with Mrs.
H. Douglass and Mrs. II. Nelson
assisting the hostess. Mrs. Wal
ter Nelson will have the program
and Mrs. Hollis Dodson will be in
charge of the devotions. A silver
offering for the children's home
will be taken and there will be
an exchange of Christmas gifts.
Women of tho Moose will meet
at 8 p.m. tonight at Moose hall,
with Delia Bartlett. Eugene, rep
resentative of tht lodge's college
of regents, to make her official
visit. There will also be commit
tee reports and initiation for a
class of candidates. A social hour,
with potluck refreshments, will
follow the meeting. Before the
lodge session, officers of the Bend
chapter will entertain Mrs. Bart
lett at a 6 o'clock dinner at the
Bend cafe. -
First Lutheran L.D.B. will have
a Christmas party Thursday at 8
p.m. at the home of Mrs. P. W.
Chernenkoff, 1622 Steidl road.
Friends of members were invit
ed to attend. Gifts, not to cost
more than one dollar,. will be exchanged.
Church Night Dinner Is
Scheduled for Tomorrow
The congregation of First
Christian church will meet Wed
nesday at 6:30 p. m. for the
monthly potluck family dinner In
the church social room. The pro
gram will include two short
plays by the high school drama
tics department, under direction
of Miss Grace Mary Linn, and a
scenic film which will be shown
through the courtesy of United
Airlines. .. .
Clubs Planning
Culver Meeting
Culver, Deo. 14 (Special) Mem
bers of two of Jefferson county's
oldest social and study groups for
women will meet here next Mon
day afternoon, when the Culver
O.D.O. club will entertain the Sa
halee club of Madras. The affair
will be at the home of Mrs.
L. M. Horney.
The Sahalee club, whose mem
bers engage In serious study of
current affairs, several years ago
raised a fund for the purchase
of a square of property just east
of the business district. They
have planted trees and developed
the plot into an attractive city
park.
Christmas Dinner
To Be Held Friday
A Christmas dinner Friday at 7
p.m. will precede the regular
meeting of Patriarchs Militant,
Deschutes canton No. 19, and the
ladies auxiliary, at , the LO.O.F.
hall.
Mrs. Kenneth Arnold is chair
man of the dinner. Mrs. M. B.
Smith heads the dining room com
mittee, and Mrs. Martlnus Ander
son is in charge of the Christmas
tree, with 50-cent gifts to be ex
changed. '
CARD PARTY LS HELD
Twelve tables were In play at
the V.F.W. public card party Sat
urday night, at the V.F.W. hall on
Bond street. First prizes were
won by Wayne Entriken and Mrs.
Ed Pryor and second prizes by
Mrs. John walker and K. C. Col
ver. Walker also won the grand
prize, with Mrs. R. L. Martin get
ting second prize. Cecil Hollins
head won the floating prize.
