The marriage of Shirley Anne
Hunter, daughter of Dr. and Mrs.
Robert Russell Hunter of Prine
ville, to Dr. Galen Spangler Eg
bert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight
Gilbert Egbert of Dighton, Kan
sas, was solemnized at a 3 o'clock
candlelight ceremony Sunday, No
vember 28, in the chapel of the
Westminster Presbyterian chflrtth
of Portland. Rev. Franklin Thom
as Hudson read the service.
The bride, given in marriage by
her fatlfer, wore a suit of grey
wool with cut steel buttons. She
wore a powder pink hat and
gloves and grey shoes. Her cor
sage was of pink rosebuds and
pink bouvardia and she carrieid a
white Bible showered with pink
bouvardia on white streamers.
Judy Graham, of Prineville, the
bride's maid-of-honor, wore a suit
of burgundy gabardine with grey
accessories and a corsage of white
carnations.
The bride's mother wore a royal
blue crepe dress, a blue-plumed
hat and black accessories. The
bridegroom's mother, who flew
from Dighton, Kansas, to Port
land withher husband, wore a
brown suit with beige accessories.
Robert Hunter, Jr., was best
man and Edwin Sinner and David
Camapbell, cousins of the bride,
were ushers.
The couple exchanged marriage
vows before a fireplace flanked
with candelabra. The mantle was
decorated with white chrysanthe
mums. -
A reception was held following
the ceremony at the home of Mr.
and Mis. John Reed Cauble, in
East Moreland. Mrs. J. P. Feuer
stein, the bride's aunt, cut the
wedding cake and Miss Marjorie
Queen, cousin of the bridegroom,
supervised the punch bowl. Pour
ing were Mrs. R. R. Hunter, Jr.,
and Mrs. David Campbell. Miss
Merle Hunter was in charge of
the guest book.
Immediately after the receDtion
the couple left for San Francisco,
where they boarded a clipper for
Honolulu. They will be at home
in Prineville after December 14.
Variety Promised
In Hobby Display
At AAUW Show
Entries received to date for the
nobby show being held in the
county library auditorium Decem
ber 5 display a variety of skills
and cratts, according to Mrs.
C. E. Stranahan, president of the
sponsoring group. About 40 en
tries have already been submitted
for the show, which will be held
from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday,
she said.
Mrs. Stranahan said that the
vj'tde variety of exhibits for the
AAUW-sponsored show includes
oil paintings, carved model air
planes and locomotives, stamp
collections, Christmas decorations
and novelty flower arrangements,
leather work, photography, crys
tal and mineral collections, cera
mics, handmade toys and sewing.
Members of the AAUW will act
as hostesses during the eight-hour
show, Mrs. Stranahan said. There

Benefit Program
Held at IOOF Hall
Is Well Attended
A mlmber of local Odd Fellows,
Rebekahs and Theta Rho mem
bers took part in a program pre
sented last Saturday night at the
I. O. O. F. hall when contributions
were received for a garage build
ing to be erected on the grounds
of the Odd Fellows home in Port
land. A large crowd attended.
The program opened with a
song by the Theta Rho girls' trio,
composed of Dorothy Christy,
'Mary Meagher and June Clark,
with Joan Fuls as accompanist.
Mrs. Earl B. Weber and Wayne
Hamilton entertained with vocal
solos, and readings were given by
Miss Kathryn Kelley and Mrs.
Paul Brookings.
Mrs. C. E. Hein played "Finale
from Sextette" as a piano ssolo.
Colored slides, featuring desert
scenes and other views, were
shown by N. R. Gilbert. Also in
cluded in the program was a one
act play, "A Weakness for Nur
ses." The cast included the fol
lowing: Mrs. W. J. Hall, Mrs. R.
O. Morgan, Mrs. D. N. Graham,
Hugh Kelley and Fred Elligsen.
After the program, refresh
ments were served in the I. O. O.
F. dining room.
Allied Arts club will meet Mon;
day, December 6, at 2 p.m. at the
home of Mrs. B. A. Stover, Rock
lyn road. Mrs. E. E. Hughes will
have charge of the program, with
"Gunthers U.S.A." as the topic.

Bend Couple
Returns From
Wedding Trip
Mr. and Mrs. Dellis Hinee have
returned from a wedding trip to
California points and are at home
at 334 East Greenwood. They
were married Friday, Nov. 2C, at
8 p.m., at the Mis.sionr.ry baptist
church.
The bride, the former Dorothy
May Bryant, is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Pickett, of
Caldwell, Idaho. The bridegroom
is the son of Mr. and Mrs, Joe
Hlnce, of the Grange Hall com
munity. Rev. L. II. Eosv.ell officiated
at the double-ring ceremony,
which was performed in a setting
of white chrysanthemums. Miss
Peggy Boswell played Die wed
ding marches and accompanied
her sister, Mrs. John Samples,
who sang "Because.''
Miss June Loken was maid of
honor, and bridesmaids were Mi.ss
Betty Bradetich and Miss Jacque
line Craven. Carolyn Hooker,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. C.
Hooker, was flower girl, and ring
bearer was Tommy Williams, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Williams.
James Cox, of Prineville, uncle
of the bridegroom, acted as best
man. Ushers were Louis Ilince,
brother of the bridegroom, and
Philip Bradetich. Alfred Bryant
gave his sister in marriage.
Bride Wear White
The bride wore a traditional
wedding gown of white satin, with
white tulle fingertip veil. She
carried a bouquet of white pom
poms, centered with red rosebuds.
The attendants wore floor
length frocks of taffeta, and car
ried colonial nosegays. Miss Lo
ken wore pink, and Miss Brade
tich and Miss Craven were in blue.
After the ceivmony, a reception
was held In the church parlors.
Mrs. Earl Williams cut the wed
ding cake, and Mrs. Carson Call
and Mrs. George Cox poured. Miss
Daiiene Hince, sister of the bride
groom, had charge of the guest
book.
For going-away, Mrs. Hince
wore a brown taffeta dress, with
the rosebud corsage from her
wedding bouquet.
The bride has been employed
for several months at the local
Newberry store. Hince is employ
ed by Brooks-Scanlon, Inc.
Eastern Star .juvenile grange
will meet Saturday, Dec. 4, at 1
p.m. at the grange hall, rather
than next week, as originally
planned. Members were asked
to bring skits, readings and oth
er material which would be use
able for a Christmas program, to
be presented Saturday night, Dec.
11; after the harvest supper, at
Eastern Star grange hall.
First Presbyterian ladies will
sponsor a fancywork and cooked
food sale Friday and Saturday,
December 3 and 4, at the Des
chutes County Title and Abstract
company office.
ANNUAL BAZAAR PLANNED
Madras, Dec. 2 (Special) Mrs.
Louis Rufener, chairman of the
home economics committee of the
Mud Springs grange, has an
nounced that the group's annua!
bazaar and food sale will be held
here Saturday. The committee
making arrangements includes
Mrs. F. J. Carpenter, Mrs. J. H.
Lee, Mrs. J. E. Evick, Mrs. Mary
Conroy and Mrs. Verl Ridgeway.

ernors, held yesterday afternoon

form of a 0:30 potluck dinner at
the home of Mrs. E. M. Bucknum,
chairman of the social committee.
There will be a short program of
Christinas music, and women will
make contributions for CARE
packages to be sent to university
women In Europe, rather than
participating in the usual gift ex
change. Plans for the party were
made last night at a meeting of
the social committee. It was an
nounced earlier that the affair
would be held at the home of Mrs.
Carl A. Johnson, but the plans
were changed because of her ill
ness. ,
