They spent Thanksgiving in Sunnyside, Wash., with Mrs. Stout's son, Philip Pitman and family. En route back to Bend they visited on the coast with Stouf s daugh ter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Scalf, in Waldport. - t Mrs. L. M. Lancaster,' who has been visiting in Portland, is ill at St. Vincent's hospital, ,it was learned here today. Her condition is not serious, it was reported. Be cause of her illness, there will be no Bendonian club meeting this Friday night, as originally plan ned. Mrs. Lancaster is dance in structor for the group. 1 Mrs. Lawrence TV Nicholson left yesterday to attend the Can ada Hotel and Resorts association convention this week end in Van couver British Columbia. In Port land she planned to join Mr. and Mrs. K. P. Gustin and make the trip north with them. Gustin is president of the Oregon Motor Court association. Mrs. Nicholson was elected vice president of this district at the convention of the O.M.C.A. early in November, in ; Portland. She will return to Bend early next week. Baptist Women's union will have a work meeting Thursday at the church, following a 1 o'clock luncheon. Food for the meal has been solicited and will be served by a committee. All women of the church were invited to attend. Mrs. Adam Repnock will lead the devotions. Thursday bridge club will meet tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Edward LeBlanc, 432 Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Morris A. Priday, of Madras, are parents of a boy born yesterday at St. Charles hos pital, by Caesarian section. The baby weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces, and has been named Melvin Mor ris. Church of God missionary cir cle will meet Thursday at 10 a.m. for an all-day meeting at the home of Mrs. William Scaggs, 1210 Hartford. Twin boys were born at St. Charles hospital shortly after midnight this morning to Mr. and Mrs. John C. Gilman, of Berkeley, Calif. Mrs. Gilman, the former Miss Jimmy Joyce, is the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Nary Kittle son, of Shevlin. One of the twins weighed 5 pounds, 13 ounces, and the other weighed 5 pounds, 10 ounces. The Gilmans also have a two-year-old daughter. . . j j A boy was born this morning at St. Charles hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Myrl A. Taylor, of 1238 Og den. The baby weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces. Bob Rines, Don McCauley, Har old and Gene Smith and George Rasmussen were members of a party of students who returned to the University of Oregon after spending the Thanksgiving holi days with local relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Briggs and Mr. and Mrs. Jess Perrine and son, Peter, have returned from Klamath Falls, where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Richard H. Lee. Mis. ALWAYS AT YOUR GROCER'S rc 'Buzzing' Plane Cuts Power Wire Cloverdale, Dec. 1 (Special) Power In the Cloverdale and Sis ters area was Interrupted Monday at about 10:20 a.m. when an uni dentified plane buzzed the Lee Goodrich home in Cloverdale and struck a power line. Sisters Woman Dies at Hospital Myrtle Jane Magoon, 66, of Sis ters, died this morning at St. Charles hospital, where she had been a patient since Monday. She suffered a lingering illness, nad had been hospitalized twice in re cent months. She was born No vember 18, 1882, in Mason City, Iowa, and had been a resident of the Sisters community for the past, two years. She belonged to the Presbyterian church. The family came to Oregon nine years ago from the middle west. She leaves a son, Merrill W. Hinkle, of Sisters; a daughter, Mrs. John Fossler, of Iowa Falls, la.; four grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Edith Egge, of Bur bank, Cal. Her husband preceded her in death several years ago. Funeral services had not been set today. Nlswonger and Wins low are in charge of arrange ments. , Allen to Leave For Chicago Meet County judge C. L. Allen will leave by plane tonight for a three day meeting of the national asso ciation of county officers in Chi cago. Judge Allen is chairman of the association's welfare com mittee, and is president of the Oregon association of county offi cers. Sessions of the meeting are scheduled for December 2, 3 and 4, Allen said. He expects to re turn to Bend Sunday night. This plan calls for the placing of yule dec orations along the main streets. These decorations could be used ovar a period of years. Commit teemen said initial response to the plan was good. The committeemen meeting to day noon at the Pine Tavern con sidered the decoration plan, and made other arrangements for the Christmas season. It was announced that the mer chants will sponsor a downtown show at the Tower theater on De cember 24. This show will start at noon and will be continuous. Tickets will be distributed through the merchants. Mothers doing belated shopping, it is pointed out, can leave tnelr chil dren at the show. On the Saturday before Christ mas and on Tuesday and Wednes day of Christmas week, stores will remain open until 6 p. m. On Thursday night, December 23, stores will remain open in the evening until 8:30, but shopping will be "for men only." McCauley. R. E. Rod erick, juvenile officer, assisted In the investigation. The boys admitted shooting the big industrial tires, but denied placing pumice in the radiator and gas tank of the pumice load er. Officers said the boys would ap pear before Judge C. L. Allen next week. Portland Home Is Ransacked The Portland home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph H. Cake was broken Into and ransacked Monday night, the couple learned here yesterday. News of the trespass ing reached them as they were preparing to return to Portland. It was reported that every room in the house, the basement and the garage were ransacked. Offi cers were not able to determine what was taken until the Cakes make a check. The residence is located at 334 SW Edgecliff road. The Cakes also maintain a farm home In the Glen Vista com munity and a summer cabin in the Metolius river resort area.
